You *need* some of these
These are engineered for your car, include a flexible, cat-less uppipe, and will give gains of up to 20bhp and 25 lb / ft for a mere £400.
Note that a remap is required to get maximum gains.

Nah... what you need is one of these. They're also engineered for new-age cars and cost under £350 delivered. Plus they're unequal length so you keep more of that Scooby sound. I'm ordering tonight, if there's anyone who wants to join the group buy at the last minute!
Remember:
OBX = equal length
Gruppe-S = unequal length
Sorry, Edcase... couldn't resist.

Equal length = best possible flow, which is why Sti use them on the spec c.
Plus it removes vibration from the car. The flat 4 boxer beat also has the effect of causing vibration through steering and chassis.
If you want sound, go for the gruppe s (I've heard of them splitting, mind, you get what you pay for. Plus the uppipe is solid / fixed so you can get leaks round the gaskets.) if you want ultimate power + finesse, go for OBX. I know what I want

Agreed - the equal length headers would provide the ultimate flow rate. However, I'm happy to sacrifice a couple of horses for the sound. With >300bhp (i.e. the state of most tuned cars taking these headers), who's going to notice the loss?
I'm not going to debate the point much, there's no benefit and we're just "pimping" group buys anyway. If chassis/steering vibration was an issue due to unequal length headers, then Subaru wouldn't have provided every Impreza prior to the current Spec-C with unequal lengths, would it? In any case, the Gruppe-S are more equal than the OE items.
With regards to the leaking issues, 13 of the 14 confirmed buyers are opting for flexi up-pipes.
Yes, I know which I prefer too

No, I don't have a soundfile for the Gruppe-S. There's a link to a video on the thread for the other headers. That video contains footage of a car (P20SPD's, I think) with the equal length headers fitted. Drop P20SPD a line; maybe he'll do a WAV recording?

Fatman - sorry I wasnt suggestion the non equal length were a problem, just that until you try equal length you dont realise just how 'noisy' the steering etc. on standard headers.
