Ok, I have primed, painted and Laquered my fog light covers but the finish is slightly "orange peel effect". How do I get a flat surface without rubbing back and trying again ?
Have seen rubbing compound in shops, will this work ?

Cheers

Rub it down with fine wet and dry paper (2000 I think will do the trick) then polish it with t cut or rubbing compound

HI,IM A QUALIFIED PAINTER,BE CAREFUL NOT TO GO THROUGH LAQUER WHEN RUBBING DOWN,,IF YOU HAVE PUT A FEW COATS ON,I THINK YOU WILL BE FINE THOUGH ,GIVE IT A RUB DOWN WITH 1200 GRADE,USE WASING UP LIQUID WITH PLENTY OF WATER,,AND RUB LIKE MAD TO GET A SHEEN BACK,EASY IF YOU HAVE A ELECTRIC POLISHER,IF YOU HAVE BE CARFUL AROUND THE EDGES
HOPE THIS HELPS YOU A LITTLE

Best thing for removing orange peel is 3M High Gloss Marine Compound on a soft compounding pad using a slow electric polisher...
I can give you details of the exact system if your really interested......

What's wrong with 1200 to compound? You can polish up from 600 with compound...assuming you have a buffer.

Dazza, don't forget after you've cut the orange peel back, with 1200 / T cut or whatever you'll still need to go over with a wax / polish to get a nice shine

Cheers Guys,
I have 1200 paper in the garage but couldn,t find 2000 anywhere in any of the Accesory(sp) shops so I will try that tonight with some T cut & Zymol to finish.
