Unhappy

I also have a MY00 that has now done 5000 miles.
You should be peaking at 1 bar on full accelleration which will start to drop off around the 5000 mark. It sounds as though you have a problem.....get back to the dealers...sharpish!!

Question

Just done the 1000 miles, the car is quick but not as quick as I expected, I do realise it will take a while to loosen up properly. However my question is the boost guage only registers 0.5 on full accelaration, is that correct, does it get better like the engine ?
Anyway its great being a Scooby driver at last, lots of respect from other drivers, especially at petrol stations.
Thanks In advance

my 00 also produces and holds 14 psi,it was absolutely guttless for the first 4000 miles but is starting to liven up a bit now with 5000 on the clock.
i too was a little surprised at how slow it felt while loosening up but believe me it gets better and the handling is just something else.

Cool

Just to add to what I have already said. I also have a SS Downpipe, Backbox & ITG Filter fitted. Greatly reduces turbo lag and the car pulls hard right up to the read line, instead of running out of puff at around 5500 like a standard one!!

Its booked in for its 1st service in the next week and I have asked the dealer to take a look, it will hold 0.5 bar of boost, but its not enough !! or should I say its not what I expected it to be, could I be a victim of Scoobynet.......hmmm

I thought it was just my imagination.

I've got a MY00 which has done 2.5K. Its my third Scooby and it definately does not feel as quick as the previous 2 (MY95 and MY97 both standard UK spec). Just praying that it will loosen up soon.

Cheers, Ian.

What PSI of boost should a standard car hold then?

My UK MY98 held 11 P.s.i. on a recent rolling road run (produced 250bhp at Well Lane) is this normal?

Thanks

Cool

Simon,

My MY00 with T75 Downpipe, decat centre section, SS backbox and Blitz Induction kit peaks at 15psi and holds at 14psi

Got 248 bhp & 259lbs torque on the rollers recently (figures sound a bit OTT IMHO)

Rich.

Thumbs up

Subarussian

Having spoken to my dealer before fitting the Downpipe (Adams, Aylesbury) I was informed that I could change the whole exhaust system without affecting the warranty. I was then told in no uncertain terms 'but do not touch the engine!'.

At the end of the day all the new downpipe does is allow the exhaust gases leaving the turbo to flow far more freely.

I guess if I do end up having a warranty issue with them it is most likely the part that the non-standard part is fixed to that will be out of warranty..i.e. the turbo itself.

The car will be in for it's 7500 service in a couple of months, I will see if they say anything then!!

Spikey - how did you manage to get the downpipe onto a MY00 car, what about warranty? SS Backbox was as much as I was "allowed" by my dealer

How can I check the boost on my car without installing a boost gauge? Advice appreciated.

Andrei, some dealers are more flexible in their approach to mods, or maybe they dont know yet

The only way to check boost with the standard ECU is with a gauge.

Most cars 99> should run between 14 and 16PSI standard, mine allegedly ran 16 peak and 15 held on PE's rolling road, my boost gauge reads 1 bar max boost. One thing to remember is that the gauge may be faulty, or the connections not 100% secure, this would give false readings, and make the car run out of sorts !!! if this is the case it would need looking at quite urgently, as there are tales of pipes blowing off and engines going pop.
