A couple of people suggested (John F etc) the vibration I was feeling under braking when hot was not actually a warp, but rather uneven build up on the braking / pad surfaces.
I went to Donington last night expecting to only be able to do a few laps, but after three laps all vibration totally disappeared.
The brakes are now back to their perfect, fantastic self.
I am pretty sure the current pads are Ds2000, so I am planning on switching to 2500 to see if that helps.

Probably went cos you were running on molten rubber after a few laps !!!!!!!!
Look like you were having fun anyway.
How was the tuition ?
I timed you around Donno at 2:17 by the way, about 5 secs slower thean the Sti7 PPP
Not bad at all

Had you had pad transfer onto the discs before? I don't recall you mentioning it at the Ace Cafe the other day...?
IIRC, the DS2000 were the pad that Prodrive/IM used on the Alcom big brake kit and had some problems. I don't think you can go wrong with the 2500s though don't be tempted by the 3000s!!!

Steve - good to see you. I've just been watching the video back...sadly I hardly got a single clear lap...kept having to move out the way of the bloody exiges and blackbird engined caterhams
Wheres the rain when you need it
A couple of the laps on the video (presuming using that to time is accurate?) are a lot faster than that The tuition worked wonders, and I have that on video too. Great reference material.
The drive home through the lanes was even better () but I'll be keeping that video to myself
The car behaved impeccably once again, although I *do* desperately need more power...which is pretty much standard still.
The new Toyos are amazingly pliable, sticky and progressive, changing gearbox and engine to synthetic has also made driving flat out feel much smoother, and the quick rack is undoubtedly the best mod I have made. Get one. Now.
As to whats next, I've bought a rear sti strut brace fresh off the boat from TSL today, ready for Castle Coombe next weekend, then I really am going to try and get my engine sorted before Silverstone and the ring.
2nd best mod? Camcorder and mount. (Matt can you give a certain person a nudge RE camera mount?? )

I use DS2500 pads and they are spot on for fast road use.
Just ask my passenger from the trip home from work this morning

I had those vibrations a few weeks age with my Prodrive discs.
I happened at the return hme from the "Ring". Of course the brakes were used to the max there.
A quick e-mail to Prodrive sort things out and they explained what to do, I also send them pic of the almost ruined pads and discs and they replied with some decent answers on my questions.
Prodrive gives a lot better after sales sevice than Subaru Belgium and I hope they read this !!!

Noz - dont think I was out the same time as you taking Nathans out...if I was I may have been on a cooling down lap
Check your mail!
Fat Boy - my suggestions is get some 2500 pads and do a trackday / some hard road driving, gradually building up the pedal pressure. After 3 laps building up pace, my vibration had gone and they are now back to 100%!
Nathan - I've been all over the place with work this last week...also being my usuall indecisive self am back toying with the idea of headers and tek3 Argh what to do!!!

Edcase, I've probably someway ahead of you in the track day stuff,(+ used to rally) and I've run 2000, 2500, 3000 , pagid, PF, etc in these brakes and yes I do know how to warm up, cool down, give the brakes a rest, leave the handbrake off etc etc.. Now where's my grandmother gone, she really does need some egg sucking lessons.......

What do you want? A medal?
I'm just advising you from what I have experienced, who am I to know how much you do / don't know? If everyone had that attitude nobody would help anybody!!
Likewise who are you to know my background / racing history?

Yes, I want a great big shiny one that says search on it.
If you had done a search on here, you would have found hundreds of similar posts over at least the last 3 years with identical information to the news you "broke", my point was its a SIAL.
So go on, tell us about your race background or do all race drivers go on about going on track days

Fat Head - can't search due to the neccessary web security settings for the work I do.
I do more than my bit towards this community and get sick of people with your attitude causing bad feeling. Even the dealer thought the discs were warped and were going to replace them until they cleared up at Donnington, and now I am taking the advice from the other thread to move to a more aggressive pad.
You posted with a problem on a thread I started, I offered advice, you threw it back in my face. My what a nice guy you are
Ian - sorry mate been so busy at the mo all over the country have hardly been on the board. Gutted for you. Any sign of it?? If there is a hope in hell of getting me a camera mount for Friday that would be fantastic as I am on track again Saturday. Obviously you are probably preoccupied at the minute, so don't worry too much if you can't.

Ian - many thanks, mail me offline with payment details etc if you manage to get it sorted, and I will give you my address.
RE: FB, I was always taught to treat people with the amount of respect they treat you. This community is about knowledge share and helping other people. His little outburst was totally out of place, and out of order. In fact, just plain rude.

It might come to that, but then I'd probably need someone's crucial 3 year old advice on which handbag to use.
FB
PS and FWIW, Ian's camera mount is excellent, as long as you remember to pump up the vacuum every couple of hours or so (when the red line shows), so that it doesn't come off at say 130mph down the Craners.

Ed,
As you may or may not know I had me scoob nicked at the end of last week so my mind has been on other things.
Are you still after a camera mount?
If you ask FB nicley he may let you borrow his.
