They(SHELL) are now selling 100 Ron Petrol(100 Oktan) in Germany under the trade name V-Power, potential I suppose for it to come to the UK. Just FYI.Schumacher says on the leaflet that its the best fuel he's driven with, so it must be true . They've replaced the 98 Ron Super unleaded pump with it.

Tried the v-power stuff out whilst at Rally Germany a few weeks ago. Made my EcuTeK STi7 UK noticeably quicker.

Absolutely superb stuff, I hope it does come to the UK.

V-Power has been available in Greece for a couple of years now as 100RON! Saw it there last year. WREXY (board member) uses it all the time out there..
Now why dont we get that???

We have this type of fuel (Shell V-Power Racing 99+) two years now but is quite expensive 1,1 euros compared with SUL 98RON <0,85 euros.
BP just released a brand new fuel imported from Holland(not available there) with the name Ultimate that is more than 100RON, gives better results from Shell's V-Power and costs "only" 0,90-0,95 euros.
Believe me our problem here in Greece isn't the type of fuel we use but if it is clean and not mixed with other types (NUL, SUL) so don't be jealous, it's better to have 98RON fuel and be sure that is 98RON and not have and pay 100RON mixed with NUL...
Although the BP Ultimate is really ultimate for our cars according to my Ecutek DD readings (I've got road dynoed 203ps/201LbFt at the wheels from my WRX03 with ambient temp 26C!)

I emailed Shell a couple of weeks ago ref this V-Power fuel, to see if it was coming to the UK. Here is their response :

Hello Mr Finney,
Thank you for your recent e-mail.

Shell has a Global programme of developing unique fuels tailored to meet local customer needs on a market by market basis. Shell has already successfully launched differentiated fuels like V-Power and Optimax in over 30 countries around the world. We have, however, gone out of our way to tailor each fuel specifically for the requirements of the consumers, their cars and local legislation in each country. Optimax is both a performance and protection based initiative, and in general it is a higher octane fuel.

Shell Optimax is a completely new unleaded petrol giving optimum performance and maximum protection, with an octane rating of 98.6 RON. There are currently no plans to introduce or trial a 101 Octane fuel in the UK market.

Kind regards,

Craig, I had the same reply a couple of months ago when I emailed them. We need to get a forum started, getting everyone to write in it saying they want it, if they start gettin a lot of people asking they may take notice.

Ian,

Couldn't agree more m8, I don't know the facts and figures but I reckon there must be a market for it.
The UK Jap car market has exploded over the last few years so there would be loads of interest.

Just sent this email to shell

To whom It May concern,

As you maybe aware there is a growing number of Japanese high performance cars, which require high Octane fuel levels. I already understand that you have released Optimax in the UK and are not planning to introduce V Power, however I do believe that there is a large market for this product in the United Kingdom and would advise you to watch the thread http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=239427 as people express that they would require this product.

What do people think. Can I ask people in other motoring forums to post a link to. http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadid=239427

I presently run my Scooby on 97 octane + Millers octane booster for ordinary road use.

However, most of the use is for motorsport (hillclimbs) and I use 100 octane from 76 Racing Fuels but it is very expensive.

Any alternative would be great!.

Unhappy

I am with Wurzel. I spent a few weeks in Germany and ran nothing else ( STi7). I thought the only thing that went faster was the money leaving my wallet, I normally run Super Plus at 98 Octane.

Saw a demo on German TV about itas well. Shell claims up to 10% increase in power. They ran a couple of Audi's, Opels, and porsche's on Dyno's with and without V-Power and the results were "inconclusive", ie, did **** all. They claimed maybe a 2% increase that could also have been attributed to the Dyno and definately not worth an extra 10 or so cents per litre.

I was persuaded to travel to map an STi8 specifically for VPower following it being mapped here in the Uk on Optimax, the difference is considerable, between 4-6 degrees extra ignition and 1.5 bar mid ... 1.3/1.4 bar to the red line. Motec M800 ecu. Made 0.4 sec difference to the cars standing 1/4 in an ambient of 20 deg ... std engine internals.

Its definately much better fuel.

Cool

I run my car on V-Power and found it makes the car quieter but not faster or anything. and we have had it for the last 6 months or more down here.

Edited because it is V-Power and not C-Power C-Power is the top secret prototype rocket fuel we get here in Germany
