Help & Advice!

Hi anyone! I picked up my Subaru Sti 7 ppp last Saturday from an independant dealer.
I managed 26 miles and the engine blew up!!!!
I had it taken into my local Subaru dealer and on Wednesday they told me the problem was due to a faulty fuel pipe.
Today they told me that it has been inspected by a Subaru engineer and will not honour the warranty because a non-standard boost pipe has been fitted to the car!!
I found that very strange!
I went back to the dealer i brought it from and they contacted the previous owner in front of me who promised that he had no modifications other than the ppp carried out!!!
Also when i brought the car i was told that the car had a new engine at 11,000 miles due to a faulty fuel pump/pipe problem but thought that as it had a Subaru warranty i had a couple of years peace of mind!!!
The car has only done 17,000 miles now!
I am a little naieve to mechanics in general so can anybody out there perhaps shed some light on this problem for me?
Is this a problem for Subaru or for the dealer i brought it from?

Straight back to the dealer. Stamp feet. Cry. Then ask to speak to a manager

Straight to the dealer as they sold you a genuine ppp car which as far as you (and the garage) are concerned is covered by the warranty.
If it is not a genuine pipe used then that's still between the dealer and the warranty people.
If it was the original pipe used then the same applies.
Either way, you shouldn't even need to get involved at all.

all the sti7s up to December (?) had a recall on their fuel pumps (do a search here - that's where I was alerted and had to call the dealer to insist they actually do it ! )
there was a whole rash of exploding sti7s on here which seemed to have calmed down....but clearly not entirely. Balancing that they all seem to do that from time to time - nothing sells like bad news - exploding cars, nicked cars and even pink cars.
I suspect you'll be able to fight this one quite easily as it's a warranty issue - start by rejecting the car and go from there. There appear to be a whole bunch of road warriors on here who'll provide sensible (sometimes very funny, sometimes scary) advice and practical help.
Baz (only non-exploding sti7 but then is a prodrive version )

James- It's not your problem who pay's for the repair job, it's between the garage and the warranty company to argue.
Your first and only port of call should be back to your dealers and tell them you will leave it with them.
Personally I'd want a loan car too.

Ultimately the dealer, if the warranty compnay has a valid reason for NOT paying out then they may get out of it. But the dealer still has an obligation to repair it.
Personally, id be pushing for a full refund. Might be worthwhile contacting subaru uk too and ask them to get involved (if its a independant subaru dealer).
Complain to as many people as possible as often as possible.
Hope it gets sorted and let us know what happens.
Edited: Just a thought??? Is the non standard boost pipe from the PPP?????
