Okay, the other day I asked about my speedo..
Thank you Ian for your reply...

Now I really have a problem... they 'say' they can't fix it... because they 'can't' get the part... and because they DON'T understand the wiring... because it has 3 wires instead of the normal UK two wires... because it could be the speedo head (I hope that's right) or it could be the sensor...

Come on there are enough imports in this country somebody must be able to tell me where I can get this part from...?

Can someone please put me in touch with someone who might know the answer.

Thanks thanks thanks please....

If it is the speed de-limiter that has failed you can get one

Thanks Mike, where exactly is HERE...?
Mike I'm pretty sure I have your phone number somewhere I'll try and call you tomorrow.

James thanks I'll try them as well.

The best bit is they can't replace it with a UK Speedo... because the trick is... you have to take out the UK speedo first and send it to 'THEM' and then 'THEY' send the replacement part... neat ... cute...

Anybody have any idea who 'THEM' and 'THEY' are? cause these guys keep popping up all over the place.

hehe, Penni, drag your pointer over the blue text where it says 'Here' in my previous thread, when it turns into a pointing finger type thing, click your left mouse button. (it's a Hyper link).

Mike.

If it is the sensor then it will be possible to check this with ECU diagnostic (yes, yes, ooops )

Penni will come over and check it out

Them & Us are:- Them=IM Us=Dealer

Because the speedo head is the Numero Uno part for replacement on EVERY grey import that comes in to the Country, Subaru (UK) are super sensitive about selling them to Dealers, as they don't know where they are going.

To get around this problem, the Dealer can only order a new speedo unit after first sending the faulty UK one back to Subaru (UK) for inspection.

Ain't life a bitch.......

However, with a bit of investigation work, you can eliminate various parts, if the Check Engine light has not come on whilst driving, the ECU is still getting the speed reading from the sensor on the gearbox.(strike 1) If you remove the speedo convertor box thingy, so returning car to Std, see if it works then, (strike 2) if not I deduce that the speedo head must be faulty. (by Col Mustard, with the candlestick, in the parlour!) (strike 3 You're OUT!)

AFAIK all UK Turbo's are electronic speedo's, where as some WRX's are cable driven, so a UK speedo head might not fit anyway, especially if your sensor has three wires, not two as per UK cars, as the wiring may be different.

Aaahhhh for a UK Warranty.............
Still you've got a few grand to lose before buying a UK car made sense.........(Tongue firmly in cheek )

Hope this helps.......

Cruel to wind Penni up so...

...agree with diagnostic - however the car is a MY99 WRX and so will be electronic.

Park Lane will have the parts to fix it - need to complete the diag first...

...don't worry Penni, the white charger is being saddled as we speak
