Good to meet people you've only e-mailed - put faces to names, try to remember names of faces seen before (not my strong point !) and see some great machinery/other peoples cars.

I would like to have heard what was going on - more speakers needed !!!! Missed most of the times/names/details so had little idea of who was doing what . Got in at about 8.00am, went about 2.00pm. Not sure if it was worth the 7 hour round trip, + £40 to watch. Would be if competing !!!

Good to meet up with some of you today and put some faces to names etc.
Left relatively early so don't know the final results but one of the red R32's had done a 9.95 @ something like 150+mph!!!!!

I think Andy F was leading the Scooby charge in about 8th for the quarter mile (high 11's I think).

QUESTION FOR THOSE SPECTATING.........

Was it worth it?...................

Well from a southern spectators point of view I would say NO.
Mainly for the following points

1)It was a very long way (Not so much of an issue)
2)Certainly wasn't enough thier to warrant a £20 per person entry fee
3)Main issue from a spectators point was thay it wasnt clear what was going on in the various disciplines. e.g. Who was winning the handling etc.
I dont know about anyone else , but to me part of the excitement of spectating is knowing whats going on in real time. The handling being probably the most interesting with the unpredictability of the winner, whereas the 1/4 and top speed are relatively predictable.

Anyway the sun shone the whole time so it was enjoyable , but I think I will just borrow someones copy of the video/dvd if its run again next year..................

NOTE: The most fun of the day was playing around in my mates R33 Skyline with all the RS' Owners when we got back into Northamptonshire after their National Day at Silverstone!!!!!!

Would have to agree about the long drive, but it was only 20 mins down the road for me, for once!!
Great to see everyone (John French, John F, Chiark, Bob Rawle, Andy F, Anders, Scott) and sad to see some people's hard work broken Highlights for me were seeing David W actually moving!!! , the Prospec R34 V Spec Nur II Skyline and the 2003 Porsche GT3.

Well worth it for me ,£15.00 for pre-booked ticket so not too bad,a LOT of cars that were VERY special( twin engined 4wd ,jet car , turbo hayabusa[aka wheelspin machine],+many more) loads of Skylines and loads of other verry fast cars meant it was worth it for me.

I thought it was an awsome day ......... did'nt know where to look ... half of me wanting to see the Handling and the other the 1/4 n top speed.

Some very quick cars there ... and some Broken ones by the time i left at 4pm....... Those Vipers!!! OMG what a sound!!

Was worth it for me..... (though i should have been running , car not ready in time though) and like above , only 30 mins or so down the road ( For once )

Keith Cowie (burgundy Skyline R32) got the best quarter 9.9 @153mph, and also the top speed @195 mph.

Hugh Kier (black Skyline R34) beat the norris evo in the quarter shootout with (I think)10.7

Good result for me as I prepared Keith's and built Hugh's!!!! ha ha ha think I may sink a few shandies in celebration when I get chance!!

Only dissapointment for me at TOTB was that i was expecting there to be trade stands etc, as i was wanting to buy a few bits for my motor. apart from that it was worth the money,, but being only 30 miles away was a bonus.. The cars were awesome and the weather fantastic but to be honest i'm glad i didnt have too far to travel otherwise i may have felt it a let down

Really enjoyed the day, but I'm only in Leeds anyhow

Highlight was definitely seeing David's car move. Believe me, I honestly thought that it would take a miracle for the car to be anywhere close to ready. Sincere respect to Paul, Pat and David for persevering when I'd have given up a long time ago. Also, much respect to everyone who helped out - you all know who you are, no doubt someone will compile a list. This community is fecking fantastic

One of the highlights was watching the norris evo come around the end of the handling section backwards thought he'd never stop spinning LOL

Yes it was worth it! Not sure If I'd have made the trip from the south but I was up there that weekend anyways and I fancied some car ****. Werent dissapointed in the slightest. none of this fookin corsa and saxo bollox, the big boys were out at TOTB. Highlights for me were:
- The Golf with that Audi sport quattro engine and turbo the size of a house!
- the twin engined VR6 turbo's golf pissing all over a viper!
- always fun to see a Jet car, felt sorry for the bloke holding the christmas tree up though!
- me and Gossy getting away with some sly donuttage on the grass at the end
- meeting up with all the scoobynet regulars shouts to eveone I met, sorry I was a bit spannered, raving last night y'see
serious racing and serious fun, I loved every minute of it.

I had a good day, as always it was great to meet up with folk, the weather was great and the cars were even better I couldn't tell you who won what or any specs on any cars though

I think for next year it either needs to be a tenner again or there needs to be some serious improvements, some decent bogs being right at the top of the list, I think having p*ss running accross the paddock is, well, taking the p*ss

Oh and the jet car, feckin awesome I've seen it a few times now and every time I forget just how feckin loud it is

Excellent that David made it, once the teething problems are sorted, thats going to be one wicked car !

I was well please with my string of 11.7's at 126/127 mph. Not bad terminal speeds for a fully trimmed car running a std internals 2.0 litre !

Did anyone else notice that the LH lane terminals were around 15 mph slower than the RH lane I mentioned this to the start line marshal and he said "ah, but there's a headwind" ....Doh

This will now be the most expensive piece of kit on my car

Yes that was my Ra 41.6 which was 8th overall and quickest scoob I only had 3 runs as my rear diff was playing up In the absence of a new plate pack, I spent 3 hrs on Saturday night welding new locating lugs on the LSD friction discs !!

Mr Norris stalled on the line to give the win to the black skyline!

He did out drag the fastest quarter skyline on the day in the eliminators previous to the stall.

Top day and some awesome cars.

just got home 11.30 pm and knocked up a copy of the actual trophy presentations from today.
same is to be sent to all reps from clubs also, to post up for websites.

our own website will be updated in the week with the basic trophy list and then the full set of results as per last year, detailing all competitors, all runs etc, on all events.

many thanks to all who attended, and who saw an official 9.9s 153mph 1/4m for Keith Cowies skyline.

also the new points system for an overall winner seemed to have worked well today. rocket ronnie won overall by a solid all round performance, being 2nd overall in 1/4m drag class, 2nd overall in top speed and 7th overall in handling.

the tannoy/pa will be worked on and grandstand seating for next year.

Keith Cowies Skyline could have then won it overall late on, after Rocket ronnie retired. keith had won 2 events for 20 points out of 20, (drag and top speed) and needed points from handling or the shootouts to nick it(3 points for each). (he had finished 23rd in handling - 0 points)
this left keith needing to win the drag shootout to pick up the final 3 points to win, and he was knocked out in the semi final by Simon Norris on a head to head. quite a few retirements left it at the top 4 cars as a few had byes due to drop outs for the drag finals.

top effort from all, and well done to Skyline GTR Register as overall Team champions.

Thanks for the results......
Its good to know that you are aware of the two main improvements needed.
I agree that a better tannoy system , especially for the handling and good seating etc will make the world of difference.
A PGA Golf like leaderboard would be fantastic........something that is easily accessible to joe public........

Congrats on a great event though mate.........
Could well be going again next year now, instead of the vid as previously listed........

It was hard enough knowing what went on as a competitor, loads of people everywhere.

Sweating like hell queing to run, but worth it in the end.

As an entrant it cost £80 to run, plus running costs associated with it, but i thought it was worth every penny.

At one stage i did think about not running again, so i could go watch, as there were some impressive machines out there, but Trout beat my time again, so i had to go and beat him again.

Gave up in the end, as he beat me by .01 recing 12.49 compared to my 12.50

Watching John felstead run my car round the handling was great, nice to see your car from the outside for once.

I travelled up from leicester, meeting some mates from london on the M1 at about 7am. We had a good drive up and found the location relatively easily. If I was asked today about going to it next year I would probably say no. The reasons are:

£20 to get in and have very limited views, no seating!!!
No screen to see speeds, and I couldn’t hear the guy on the mike due to the car noises.

I went to Santa Pod for the redline rumble where TOTB also took place, and have to say that the day there was a lot better. Santa Pod doesn’t have that good facilities anyway but compared to Elvington is in another league. With the amount of people there yesterday the venue just wasn’t suitable, maybe for a RWYB but not a show.

Why not pod anyway??

Central in the country so you get north and south, proper displays, stands on one side and a massive bank on the other so that you need one hell of a crowd for people not to see stuff, plus there is a little shade there. The only downside of the place is that there may not have been able to carry out the track bit.

Overall though I had a good day, saw some top motors and have turned a nice shade of red.
