Tried it before & the results were good. Though get down to a specialist classic car restorer they'll give you a few products that are better!! (I just can't remember the names!)

Pazzadog - you're on dodgy ground with "without a shadow of a doubt". Of course, you're influenced by your friend's involvement with Meguiars.
Try Swissol's top wax, at £1,200 per pot, and you might just develop one or two shadows of doubt about Meguiars, adequate though their products are, i'd accept.
