Question

Got my locking wheelnuts. All I've got to do now is to fit them.

I've not (yet) got a maual for the car, thus I'm unsure as tho where the jacking up points are. And I'd like to ask the wise people on the BBS for the required information, as I don't want to bugger up the car.

Thus. Where are the jacking up points (front AND rear) on a MY94 WRX Wagon? got pic?

Cool

Markus,

I don't see why you have to jack the car up in order to fit locking wheel nuts. I simply removed one nut and replaced it with a locker, moved to next wheel and repeated the process until I ran out of wheels and locking nuts.

Doh! why did I not think of that? This means that I don't have to find a nice flat place to do this on, as I live on a hill!

The BBS does it again!

Ian:
I went for the Paddy Hopkirk ones from Demon Tweeks.

I've not laid eyes on them, as they're at home and I've not been back to my place since thursday night! should get to see and fit them tonight.

Marcus,
I'm a bit worried about your expertise

Don't forget to torque the new nut correctly.

PS you turn it clockwise to tighten (or is that the otherway round )

I'm serverly lacking in expertise, but my brother is not, so it'll fall on his shoulders to sort the nuts out, thus if it goes wrong, at worst he owes me a new scooby!

Have you worked out which wheels to put them on yet, IIRC you only bought a pair of locking nuts

Don't forget that the nuts go on the 4 round things on each corner of the car NOT the round thing you hold whilst driving, they are both called wheels but do very different jobs

Markus

Did you remember to get an extra locking nut for the spare wheel (in the boot - under the carpet)?

Markus,

Have you considered setting the hyperactive dog on this lot... they wouldn't stand a chance!

Good idea, though maggie would enjoy it far too much!

BTW - I fitted them last night with no probs, thanks for your advice on not needing to jack up the car.

They're very good, Iike them a lot. Just got to remember where the 'key' is and to give it to the peeps when I take the car in for a service.

Thumbs up

Not meaning to start the theme of making you look a doghnut but ,obviously keep it in the car!

I placed the 4 old nuts in the P K package along with the key and stored them away with the jack in the side door in the boot.It doesn't rattle around.

Ian, you don't have to worry about STARTING the theme of making Markus look like a doughnut, he does a fine job of doing that himself

Markus, let the dog (Weimeraner?)(sp?) do the techie stuff, you'll be safer that way

Diablo:
mmmm, donuts!!!!

Maggie the Weimaraner (rhymes with daft banana!) said that she was too busy chewing up the carpet to help me with the wheel nuts, so I was on my own.

Jacking Up, erm, right this is drugs rehab or something, right.......

That's one of the phrases the CIA and MI5/6 will be loking out for, expect to be raided any time with a warranty to examine your nuts.

Back to the topic Markus, if you're ever unsure, you can just use the standard supplied jack & check with your dealer the exact jacking points. While you at your dealer you can check the exact trolly jack places. There's a chance when you get to replace tyres, the tyre fitters won't know the proper jack points.

Of course, to open the sunroof, it's necessary to jack up the rear near side until the wheel is 3.5mm from the ground.

Is it still April??

Nick,

I have to say that is an extremely stupid comment to make.

Everyone knows it is 3.7mm

Question

Whilst you guys are having a laugh maybe you can tell me the torque value for the wheelnuts, or is that in the manual you get with the car? (no access right now to the manual). I wonder will I get a daft answer on this one?
