Which Impreza for 10k?
#1
I'll hopefully be in the positon soon to buy an Impreza. I will have around 10k to spend and I have no idea what I'm looking for! I don't know whether to go for an import of what!
Some mates have said to go for a version called the RA. Apparently these are available for silly cheap money now!
All help appreciated guys and girls!

depends on loads of things. If youre first car and money is an issue, then id say get a late model uk turbo. Youll get one about 2-3 years old and youll have a worthwhile warranty to fall on (extended or balance of 3 years) if something goes wrong (insurance warranties IMHO are near scam status). Running costs will be lower and depending on what experience u have with cars, will be easier to live with/drive than something like an ra.
Of course u can get a wrx or an older car for much much less, but then again it will be a bit older. As i said it all depends on what youre needs are, maybe you could clarify what they are ie, will it be for commuting, weekends, track, looking good, how u are finacially after 10k is spent? etc etc etc

Thanks mate.
The car will be used everyday. I only drive 8 miles to work so that isn't really an issue. The car will get as much track use as I can get! My current car, a Nissan 200SX is going back to the dealer after some legal issues and I'm hoping rather than replace the car, they will give me a full refund so this will be used to buy an Impreza.

If its a track day weapon and has to be a scooby then a RA is a good choice, This are only available as a JAP import they were never sold from UK dealers.
They wil be more exspensive to insure and maintain and will be older than a UK car for the same amount of cash.
My advice, By the latest UK car possible (classic shape MY00). And spend the rest of the money on tuning it, or buy one already modified, there are some good cars available now as people are upgrading from late modified classics to STI8's.
good luck.

yep, i kinda agree with that. If youre after a track car and not bombing motorways either an ra or a stitypeR version 4, a mate just bought one for 10k, they are about.
But worse case scenario, if the engine goes youll be looking at 3k to repair, thats all youll have to worry about really, very reliable cars if looked after. Whatever you buy get an engineer to look it over first to make sure its not a messy car.

You could easily achieve 260 - 270 bhp with an exhaust, filter and a re-map. Cost you about £1k and that is good safe power.
I drive a MY00 as above.
P.S. The Pagani is actually the C12 / C12S

7 Foot, I know what the Zonda is called but I had to use that name on one forum and it's stuck on all the others! I'm too old to remember loads of usernames!
Cheers for your help guys.
