Hi!

I've just had my insurance renewal through and was NOT too impressed with the contents!

I bought my 95 WRX a year ago and insured it through Bell Direct for what I thought was a reasonable price of £762 all in (even included a hire car in the event of an accident - and we all know what insurance companies veiws are on imports!!).

They have now quoted me £1072 with-out the use of a hire car. Me thinks they are taking the ****!

I will be phoning around tomorrow to try and get a cheaper quote, but find this unlikely as they were the cheapest last year!

Has the Scooby gone the same way as the Cossie ?? It looks like things WILL get worse before they get better ?? :-(

Qu. Does anyone know of any Insurance companies worth trying?

Help appreciated

Thanks

James

In the same boat. Just had to renew our RB5 (non prodrive) with scooby sport back box. Went from £660 to £891 with Bennetts direct.
Spent a long time on the phone and finally got it for £575. Yes that is £575 and not a miss print. Age 35 full NCB protected with a fault claim 2 years ago in Aberdeen area. Now insured through CIA insurance (got number from EVO mag) with AXA insurance. At least this year did not have the RB5, what`s one of them problems

Try OPI - sorry don't have number handy - but they are based in Birmingham.

Many underwriters rerated the STI WRX to be a Group 20 this year, leading to increases of around 40% on average (market has gone up around 9-12% overall).

I was insured with NU thru OPI and this was the case - OPI minimised my increase to around 10% by insuring with a group contract with Lloyds.

This offer may still be available (summary risk - 6 points, three company car claims in the last three years, 15 years personal NCD - STI V - £750 plus 5% per additional modification, incl ULRS and Protected NCD).

R

PS The premium above includes having had a Possum Link fitted to the car which cost a grand total of ZERO additional premium

Admiral increased my premium from 660 last year to 1300 although none of my details had changed. In the end I insured with NFU Mutual for 680.

I'm with Admiral too and the b******* wanted a £200 increase on my non-Prodrive RB5 to just under £800. However, rung round and it appears all premiums have been hiked this year.

The best I could do was Eagle Star on-line for just under £700 (£200 xs), still a £100 increase, even though no claims.

I'm 33, live near Woking, car parked on drive, full NCB, limited to 6,000 miles a year and no mods.

Given some of the ridiculous quotes I have seen elsewhere for 2000, I may have not done too bad. I reckon we are all gonna get hammered this year.

MY '97 STi went up £75 to just over 800. Lots of shopping around though. Have you tried some of the numbers in the insurance section?
A-Plan, Footman James and Keith Micheals were all excellent quotes for me. I stayed with A-Plan.
Happy hunting.
