The affects ot this "good" weather are now well documented but, as we all know how it affects the performance could someone please tell me what affect it will have on the boost gauge reading while it's hot.

The car's running the same as it has over the last few weeks but today the reading is just under 0.5 bar at full boost.

Even at 6500 rpm in third at about 100mph ( on my private track )
it didn't register over this 0.5 bar.

96 Uk turbo wagon, st/st backbox, centre pipe and HKS panel filter.

Any ideas????

Skoosh.

0.5 bar is about 7.25psi, this sounds too low mate.

I would hazard a guess that you are running actuator pressure only with that sort of boost. If that is the case there is normally a reason for it.

What mods do you have?

Has anyone 'messed' with the pipework to boost solenoid?

My RA hits between 1.2 and 1.3bar on a normal rain day in the UK.

I was getting about 1.1bar max on Sunday in midday heat. A UK car should be about 0.9bar so 0.5 sounds a little low.

I get more boost in 4th and 5th than 3rd.

Skoosh- sounds like knock detection and your ecu has gone on safety mode at that psi.

Cheers for the info guys. I've just checked the pipes to and from the gauge, all seem okay although I've wrapped some insulation tape
around all the pipes on the tee piece.

Just taken her for another run out, a little over 0.5 bar, although I'm not sure at what revs I'll see max boost (?).

Where is the best place to get this checked out besides a Dubaru dealer? Is it a possibility that perhaps the gauge isn't working properly as the car seems to pull really well. It wasn't an expensive gauge but was assured that it was good quality.

What do you think?

if you can't get access to another gauge, you could allways put a pipe direct between the turbo inlet housing nipple and the wastegate actuator..

If it feels the same and reads the same boost, you have a problem with your std boost control (whether solenoid, pipework or limp home ecu fault)..

If it feels really slow and the boost gauge reads a lot less than normal your boost gauge is no good.

I can't see even a cheap gauge to be that far out though.

To observe max boost, you need full engine load, third gear for example, plant your foot down, watch the gauge, when you hit approx 4,000rpm you should be running full boost and holding it til redline, it might tail off a bit.

UK/Aus/Euro ECU's V7, 7D and 6D - 11.47psi, dropping to 9.47psi at 6600rpm. With Fuel-cut @ 14.87psi

Thanx Spoon, I may even consider buying a Subaru aswell...LOL.

Guys, the car doesn't feel slow at all, that's what I can't understand, although the gauge has never read over 0.7 bar since it was fitted.

Perhaps I should take a ride in another std Uk scoob and see if there's any noticeable differences? I took my neighbour out in my car to compare it to his and he said that mine was defo quicker off the mark and to 60mph than his. Mine is P-96, his is P-97, different turbo I know, but I do have the st/st centre and box, his is std system. Perhaps I'm just used to the car now after 4 months of ownership and wish it was faster, although I can't understand why I want it faster than it is ( modding bug I suppose and just because you can !!)

I think I'll get it checked out although there aren't any scoob specialists in or around Stoke on Trent.

Many thanks for your comments and you, spoon!

Bemused in Staffs.

Here's a thought........would it be worth re-setting the ecu ?

Either by disconnecting the negative on battery or the black plugs under dash that I've never actually been able to find?
