As above really.
Have been looking at both options and thus far I think: the Defi gauges look awesome (central-top pod mounted), but the SECS looks a little bit behind the times for an electronic display (ie. two-tone, no colours, blocky text).
As for practicality, the SECS gives MUCH more info (than say a typical three pod Defi arrangement of Boost, Oil temp and one other), but does one really need all that info?
Also, do you think I am being a little bit over-protective installing this (and a Knocklink), BEFORE getting Tek2/Tek3, or is this just sensible
cheers

Was in the same situation myself, till i found out the secs wont work on an my98
So i'll be going for guages.
When i asked, the opinions were pretty mixed as to what people prefer.
Personally, i like the look of the Defi's, but agree that obviouly the secs unit will show more data.
Could just be up to personal choice mate.

You'll want a boost gauge, an accurate one, Knocklink, and Lambda Link before starting remapping.
I have those three, plus oil temp, and oil pressure from Defi.
I was surprised how long after the engine temperature gauge read warm, that the oil was also warm.

SECS can currently be supplied to be MOTEC compatible, and the guys are working on other ECU's too I believe (Link/Gems).
They are also developing new displays, like the latest ICE Head unit stuff. Contact them directly for more info, or via www.psi3.co.uk

Our units work fine on Sti8's,
CTRnutter which ECU upgrade do you have? I own a Sti8 PPP, we have customers with ECUtek'd Sti8's all of which work fine. Obviously if you replace the entire ECU with a aftermarket item it won't work unless has been mentioned it is a MoTeC for which we now offer a unit.

Cheers, it was a couple of weeks back now and at the time we were looking at the Motec M800 but that has now changed to the Autronics ! for a few reasons,
I like the display of the SECS and the idea of all the info it can give, to be honest I was dissapointed to here that it wont be supported by alot of the aftermarket ECU's but if it is now then I will be purchasing one soon !!
