For the first time "last night" i took my wrx to a jet-wash.

Not something i would normaly do, but the car was very dirty and looked unsightly.
£4.99 and 10min later i'm on my way home.

Gets out of the car and F**k me, looks like someucnt has washed the scoob with a wire brush.
Scuff marks all over spoiler ans roofline.

Drove back to that garage at over 35mph, and asked to speak to the manager.
It was late 6pm so he had gone home, but the staff kindly phoned him and gave me a chance to talk to him.

He asked me to put it in writng and drop it into him today, so drove back today letter in-hand, had a little chat with him in an attempt to resolve the matter. We came to the conclusion that either a piece of wire "from the hose" or a small stonemay have caused the dammage.

He did say that " SHELL UK " would be coverd by insurance for this type of dammage, and should get a reply within 14 days.
How pi$$ed off am i.

Anyone had an expereance like this ?
Will painting the affected parts reduce the value of the car ?

An almighty pi££ed off.

Sorry to here about your car.

If it's light swirl marks, you maybe able to get these out using a proper paint restoration kit. Mark Underwood (Wax Wizard) would help you out.

I don't know about anyone else, but I would never, ever put any car through a car wash or use a jet wash on it (other than the lance to rinse most of the dirt off).

People leave the brushes on the ground and all it does is attract lot sof little stones and cr@p ready to ruin your paint.

Making a claim through Shell maybe harder than you think as you need to prove it was their jet wash that damaged the car

Sorry to hear it mate .....

I think the moral of the story is NEVER use those car washes to do anything other than power rinse. NEVER use the brush. Not what you wanna hear and i hope you can get it sorted quickly...Good luck

Sorry to hear about your news Chris

Personally, I would be very surprised if you get anything out of Shell, and I doubt they would be insured for that. I always thought they have signs everywhere saying no liaibility accepted etc etc, otherwise, people would be claiming all the time for scratches and small dents "it was caused by you carwash guvnor, honest".

Don't mean to put a dampener on it m8.

Ive never seen a disclaimer on a jet-wash but i have seen them on the roller-wash (drive through type).

Did you go back and check the condition on the brush? Maybe it was damaged/sabotaged.

May still be worth a look and might provide evidence of poor maintenance.
