Read in AutoExpress recently that Subaru were considering changin their range names from Impreza, Legacy etc. to a German Style numer system!! The Impreza being known as a "5"... Dear god surely not! Has anyone else seen, heard or read about this from another source???

NO!! I like the name "Impreza".It's a fast name for a fast car!

 

Is this the same Auto Express who tried to pass off a crudely Photoshopped pic of a WR Car as the "Road eating new 22B successor"?

Nuff said methinks - I'd wait until seeing some other confirmation before believing this little nugget.

 

Who exactly bought the car because of the name? Or, for that matter, the styling?

Not many, I shouldn't have thought. I bought it because of the handling and the fantastic turbocharged torque from the engine. I'm sure most of the rest of us did too.

Provided that Subaru continue to make a similar performance car in their next line-up, I'll be happy. They could call it the 'mincer' for all I care

 

mincer STI, i think i would have to draw the line at that..

It would be badly thought out if they did drop the name. But if they do, mine will still be an Impreza, and it doesn't mince either.
