Shell has a fuel that has a higher octane rating than Optimax. It's called V-Power and is sold in some European countries, but not in the UK. It's 100-octane and would benefit many users of this board - particularly those who are running imported Japanese STi models.

Currently the fuel's not sold in the UK. However, Shell do monitor customer demand and this is fed back to their Fuels Marketing department.

If you want to request that Shell brings V-Power fuel to the UK, you can do so by mailing retailcustomerservices@shell.com. Or by post at...

Customer Services,
Shell U.K. Oil Products Limited
Rowlandsway House,
Rowlandsway,
Manchester M22 5SB

If you would benefit from having that fuel available in the UK - let them know! If there's enough demand, they might just introduce it.

Why not go to:

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/

start one up then once enough people have signed, email or point Shell towards the site

dear Sir/Madam,

I currently exclusively use Shell Optimax in my Subaru Impreza Turbo as it benefits from the higher octane levels than normal and even super unleaded petrol. I am a loyal customer with a lot of Shell points!

I have heard that in Europe you market V-Power 100 octane fuel. If it were to be sold in this country, at a similar price to Optimax, I would use it in my car, as it would benefit me further by increasing performance.

Therefore, please take my views as a customer on board, and introduce V-Power to the UK.

Yours sincerely

xxxxxx
Cut and paste if ya like - not the best email, but gets it accross.

Good idea by the way

Added in something other than improving performance so that we don't just come over as speed freaks

Mines on its way

the x's replaced my name - or was that sarcasm?

performance encompasses fuel economy etc as well as power.

SUL in Germany is 98 Octane, not 97 as in UK!

The optimax in Germany (sold upto May this year) was 99 octane, 1 octane more then SUL as in UK optimax=98!

V-Power was introduced here in May at 100 octane, so I would expect *IF* Shell introduce it in the UK, it will only be 99 octane!

In all honesty, I don't notice any performance increase from Optimax/V-Power, although the engine does appear to run smoother and I get better fuel consumption which more than covers the extra cost! (about 82p/litre at current exchange rate!)

The V-power we have is officially "RON 98.7" not 100, unless there are also different variants of V-Power going around.

Don't worry, it will eventually get there.

The new breed of direct (gasoline) injection engines will require good det resistant fuel.

I expect more brands will market 100 RON fuel (or above) in the near future.

bb, yes, there is V-Power and V-Power. Confusing eh AFAIK Germany is the first to have the 100 RON variant in Europe, countries like Greece & Italy have the 98/99 flavour.

Hi,
we in Greece have both V- power. The simple V-Power and the V-Power plus. This, plus, has the 99+ RON and costs some 40% more the regular unleaded, well 1,09 Euros/l.

HI!!
We have V power here in Portugal and i think it is much better
than normal 98.I´d never tryed optimax but for what i´ve read
v is better for performances (100 octanes) and optimax protects
your engine better with good performance also

I note they give no reasons, and I find the response a little lacking in information. Give me a bit and i'll draft a response to their response that we can all send
