P1 on 95RON.....

This has been banded about on here a couple of times with people saying it'll be fine on 95RON etc etc. Just as a refresher, the manual says 97RON only (I take that as a minimum requirement obviously).
I'm just posting this for those that may run their P1 on NUL.
I've always run mine on Optimax + NF just to be on the safe side and it can't hurt. Other day found myself running on fumes with no proper petrol anywhere and an empty bottle of NF in the boot. Eventually had to put something in so put in a couple of quids worth of 95RON. Drove gently, off boost etc etc.
Came back from holiday, jumped in the car and accidentally gave it a bit of a blast. Subsequently noticed car was totally gutless. SECS display showed max achievable boost was now 0.66. Did an ECU reset and boost limit was back up to normal. Car has been refilled with Optimax now although again today I noticed that the boost limit had been dropped again 0.66. Still reckon there must be some crap fuel in the system.
Just an idea, but if you run your P1 on 95RON (there are people out there that do) try putting 97+ in it and doing an ECU reset - you might find it's the cheapest power upgrade going

I too only use optimax or 97 ron but on a few occasions I have been caught out in the stix with an empty tank and I have put in a couple of quid of 95ron just to get me home. To tell you the truth I didn't notice the difference.

I've run mine a couple of times on 95 ron (you have no choice sometimes in Scotland!) - it just retards it's peak power (and quite obviously) - no worries about it at all, and soon sorts itself out when it's fed proper fuel again
From memory, the manual supports the occasional use of 95 RON as ok.

A P1 should run on 95 no problem, if it didn't then Subaru have produced a car which is effectively illegal.
However, i wouldn't dream of running a Scoob on 95 - Esso SUL all the way for me
