Question

Here is a resume (or bunch of confused ramblings)about my 1st month of scooby ownership;
25/3, 285BHP Sapphire Cos has gone (too Temperamental, etc etc), in it's place a shiny new red Scooby. God I want to leave
black lines off the forecourt but no,1000
miles of restraint!
25/3-21/4, 917 miles of sheer torture. Thought about doing the 1000 in a week but decided to drive as normal ie 200 a week and
never exceed 3000rpm never mind 4000.
21/4 1st service. Had spoken to a few people
who had got this free. Was happy with the £40
though but a mite perturbed to see that they
had put only castrol magnatec in it. Is this ok or should it be ditched for fully syno?
Dealer was extremely pleasant/efficient etc
but type of oil was never mentioned.
21/4 Now for big grin time. Take it easy for a few miles then floor it. Er...has the turbo
fallen off?
22/4 Not much grinning yet, infact rice pudding skins spring to mind as the 300 miles
today have been a bit of a chore
23/4 Another 100 miles, still disappointed
24/4 On the way back home now, mileage up to
1600, b****y hell,it does have a turbo after
all, thank god for that. Had been seriously worried, now the grinning starts and i know what you've all been going on about.
25/4 Another few miles,it just gets looser/quicker and looser/quicker,wow. Probably not on a par with the cossie past
well illigal speeds but it wouldn't have been
around by then anyway. in real world situations its devastating, initial take-off/
response is amazing.
Does it loosen up still further?
Did i drive it too carefully before service hence sudden difference?

As an aside on a previous thread about dealers; local k.t. green = pants
but Huddersfield's r.n. golden = ace
anyone else found similar?

Cool

Steve,

Don't ditch the semi-synthetic oil! The engine is, as you have noticed, still bedding in. If you put fully synthetic oil in too soon, you will stop the engine bedding in properly, thus stunting your engine's development before it acheives it's best. When I had to run my engine in again (Thanks to Power Engineering ) I seem to recall that the engine was run on semi-synthetic for the first ~5k miles.

Steve,

KTG's is just up the road from me. Words like 'not' and 'bargepole' come to mind. Bought my last 2 from SG Petch in Richmond and have been well looked after.

Wait until you get over 3K on the clock and you will really feel the difference.
