....because I need some advice.

I own a MY96 wagon, uk model with st/steel centre and backbox with an HKS panel filter, otherwise it's standard.

I had a boost gauge fitted today by Subaru during a service and cambelt change. What boost should the gauge read during acceleration and when will the optimum reading show, ie: at what revs will the optimum read.

I've read several threads about different running boosts but would like to know from the people in the know.

I hope you can shed some light on this for me.

Many thanx.

Skoosh.

p.s:would the quality of gauge make a difference to the reading?

I've got a MY94 STI. I fitted a PE T75 turbo back exhaust with one free flow cat in the centre pipe. I found it was boosting to 1.1 bar with the new exhaust and would reach fuel cut. I fitted a Dawes and reduced the boost to 1.05 bar, now below fuel cut. I have no sign of detonation on the Knocklink and the AFR is ok. I gather the higher boost was due to the better exhaust system. Hope this is of help to you. I dont know where your max boost will be but mine will start to show positive boost at about 2500 RPM and gets to 1.05 bar at 3300 rpm in 4th and fifth gear. Being a TD05 turbo it will be a bit slower to spin up.

Les
