Um the new one should read 180 mph mate.
Anyway the hardest bit to do is the fuel and water temp gauge. I've gone through 2-3 of them in my old WRX a year back. The needles break. As for speedo and revs, heat it up with a hairdryer and just use two spoons to wedge it out.

no dont follow above advise as i also have got thru a few dials c/o breakage although u shud ensure u have correct dials
My advise after 2 broke rev counters is that if u can get hold of spare needles just melt the originals off as prising with 2 spoon technique can make spindle pop out all too easily (ie break), sum it wont happen to but others it will so best avoided IMO! For the smaller temp & fuel uns i recommend using small pinking scissors & a set of nail clippers, both great to trim away at the old dials till they come off without any stress on the actual needle/spindle etc
This is probably my 1 subject i'm an expert on as i've learnt from my bad experiances which werent all thru heavy handedness lol

I just fitted white dials to my scoob.Make sure the centre pin on the rev counter dosnt come out when trying to get needle off.If it does that will cost you £250 for new counter and it cant be fixed, dont tell you that when you buy the dam dials make it sound real easy.........Good luck m8

I put the Lockwood dials on mine. These were quite good as the temp and fuel ones had small cut outs in them so as you didnt have to take the needles off. The cutouts were invisible once all the plastic was refitted to. However, i still had to take off the rev counter and speedo needle off which is tricky but i done mine ok, perhaps i was lucky. I also found that you had to try and get the needles back on the spindles in the same position, hence my speedo was then over reading by about 5mph!

oh & sum have still broken fuel/temp with the easy to put on lockwood uns as it's the taking off that can still result in accidently putting strain on spindle From a white dial point of view it is worth it mind & if yer game for a long trip to the midlands i'll happily give u a hand

ref yer mail i wood definately change all the dials wood look bizarre with black fuel & temp uns i guess & we'll have 2 try & sort sumin out The reason i asked about wot age car it was is that earlier cars like yers were, i believe, manual speedo etc ie it has a wire going into the back where me MY97 was/is all plug & play electic connection thingamies at the back. There was a site knocking about that had a how to do dials etc bit which was most useful (even if it did recommend the 2 spoon techniquelol)) i'll try & dig it out later but may have more luck at home. All the rest is the same as i recall but wood wana check wot cunning plan was with that difference........ I'll c if i can kum by any spare needles also
