Just come back from a weekend's canoeing in Scotland - saw just billions of Impreza's.

But...nobody would wave to me. Are Impreza's just to common now, or is waving too sad? Come on, driving should be a social event!

Anyway - if you read this and you saw me (how many other green 5-doors out there with 2 canoes on the roof??) then you know who you are!

All the other paddlers I saw waved/flashed, so there!

Have to agree Steve, nobody wants to wave anymore. I spend all my time around Glasgow, but nobody waves at me either.

Didn't see an Impreza's with canoes on top all weekend, but if I had I would have waved.

Maybe it's just a Scottish thing - you know how miserable we lot are

Pity really - it's nice to "belong"!

Nobody waves in Yorkshire either, so it's not a regional thing. (Although they're pretty miserable in Yorkshire too....mmmm.)

I live in Herts and make a point of waving. I guess Herts must be a friendlier place than Scotland

God, sounds like you're almost too friendly down south....

Maybe there are more Impreza's about up here - more farmers and snow!

The myth of the Scooby wave. Had the car 4 weeks not one wave. As the character in the Fast Show would say 'What a load of rubbish'!

Brooks....please tell me you didn't buy the car to get the waves???!!!

I'm in Leeds/Bolton Abbey & I have to admit you do feel a bit of a prat when you flash, having seen another scoob, and the driver of the other car just ignores you

C'est la vie huh

Why doesn't the SIDC put an end to this waving business once and for all by giving a freebie Winky Waver with the next True Grip? For those too young to remember this was a waving hand on a spring which you attached to your window with a sucker and they were all the rage many moons ago, although we had other names for them...........

I've had my Impreza just over a week know. So Far I've only had One Impreza coming the opposite way and he gave a very Friendly wave (Hust Green, Sussex). It was quite a shock, as for years previous I have been waving at fellow 'Series 1 Turbo' drivers (my previous Car), only to find a baseball capped kiddy giving me a 'That's a Clean RS, but your Dead anyway look'.

It' so nice to be amongst friends...

Miserable in yorkshire........Hmmmm
southern jessies

anyway the reason most people dont wave is probably that everyone is that quick ,by the time you've tried to wave the other car is half a mile away in the other direction.

(Have tried loads to wave/flash..but thats what happened)

I was in a friends wrx type ra the other day and we came up behind another impreza and we slowed as we were passing it. They just stared at us and didn't wave back at all.

In my rsturbo i often get waves from other rs drivers especially escort rsturbo drivers and cossie drivers. By this day and age u have to be an enthusiast to own an rs but not an impreza and i think thats all you are seeing.

In a friends green mini cooper every other mini driver from totally knackered old things driven by grannies to other rally prep'd beasts used to wave. made me smile all the time

Thumbs up

My girlfriend and I seem to be constantly waving (not just to you Jules.......) and thats sunny Surrey for you, I think folk just spend more time concentrating on the road....which is a good thing really.

I live down south (was Slough - but have just moved) and I always wave if I see an Impreza. Most of the time I get a wave back.

I've noticed your chances of getting a response are highest at a weekend on country roads (with frantic waving from the whole family and the dog) and lowest on the motorway on a Monday morning (with a stern look 'out of my way everyone - don't you see I have to be at work 5 minutes ago').

Regards
James

I to have experienced the lack of waving in and around the Guildford, Surrey area. Shock horror, last night on the way home wave from a red scoob and on the way to work this a.m wave from a green one! Nice.

Always get a wave from "A12 WRX" in Guildford, are you out there?

Whilst in Cumbria with TFG having just fractured the odd speed limit enjoying ourselves. Passed another Scooby driver in Ambleside to see him with the same GRIN as us and his wife or girlfreind (General ballast) looking very scared with her hands still clenched white knuckled on the dash.
We all waved she just looked scared.
Has anyone come across ballast acting this way (sorry I meant to say wife/girlfriend)

I guess all I really wanted to know was if anyone saw my car looking the ultimate in outdoor-chic, but obviously no-one did

...but... looks like we're getting a bit of regional variation on waving. I wonder if this is related:

SUNDERLAND AND LUTON FOLK ARE 'MOST MISERABLE', SURVEY CLAIMS
7:37pm 19 April 2000 GMT
People from Sunderland and Luton are the most miserable, according to the results of a nationwide talent search.
A drive to find the nation's best pub joker has revealed Carlisle is the funniest place. Close second places went to Liverpool and Southampton, with Aberdeen, Portsmouth, Nottingham, Hartlepool and Newcastle close behind.
The scores have been awarded by judges visiting pubs urging punters to take part in the Batchelors Cup a Soup Extra Comedy Challenge. Venues were judged on the locals' willingness to get up on stage; the number of jokes told; the originality of the material; and the amount of laughter provoked in the audience.
Winners of 10 regional finals of the competition will battle it out next week for the chance to win £10,000 in cash at a national stand-up tournament in London.
Altogether, 77 heats have taken place at branches of Yates's Wine Lodge in major towns and cities.
Brighton and Glasgow lost points for being too "blue" and Coventry and Bristol for having customers who were too drunk to stand up and perform.
Leeds and Norwich boasted the friendliest audiences, in contrast to Swansea and Wolverhampton, which were plagued by the most hecklers.
So far, eight comedians have made it through to the final, which takes place next Thursday (April 27) at Yates' Wine Lodge in Ealing.

Quick Reply: Loads of Impreza's - but no waves :-(
