P1s - Holding Value
Was looking through some dealer ads the other day and it appears that P1 values seem to be holding up pretty well.
W and X plates seem to be going for the same money that they were 18 months ago, £20-£22K.
Is this wishful thinking or are they really selling for that sort of money.

At the moment its looking good, I got a very good price for my P1. Give it time then we'll start loosing money. I don't want to see that happen but like anything, it decreases in value over a period of time.

When I was deciding on which car to get the dealer had 3 P1s, one higher mileage at £20k the other two for 24. I remember asking the salesman if he though he had a chance of selling them when a brand new sti was only another grand, he said he though he would. When I went back to pick up my new car, less than a week later, he'd sold two of them! obviously don't know what the deal with discounts or trade ins etc but it seems they still very desirable and holding their value pretty well...
The only reason I mention it was because when they first came out, the values dropped like stones, as Subaru appeared to be struggling to sell new ones.
I guess with the general dislike of the new model's looks, the P1 is now arguably the one to have. Probably a bit like the Evo VI and VII.

Indeed they are holding their value. I sold my late 2000 (on an X)
which was totally bog-standard for just over 20k (22k miles). It was just due a service and the tax was about to expire! I sold it to the first guy who came around to view it...We may have paid a bit over the top for them when new, however to lose only 30% over 30 months is a fairly good residual value not normally associated with Japanese cars.

Good to see a thread actually supporting the prices of scoobs P1's or otherwise.
Normally on these threads, you get the pessimists within two or three posts!
As far as selling scoobs is concerned, would you really try and sell yours on Scoobynet
I know I wouldn't. Again all it takes is a daft post saying that the car is over priced and that's that.
All scoobs should be worth t-enty gazzillion quid i think

Mikey - cant you get mods to remove such posts on your for sale thread?
I will think of selling my car on SN in a couple of weeks, but most people do want you to give them away. If someone offers close to what I am looking for then job done. If not I will have to rely on selling it elsewhere.
Simon.

Or at the risk of having to put a flame suit on , an RB5 WR , their were only 444 of these, and only about 150 of the WR versions, but these have to come down quite a lot recently ! Doh........
But i think you are right, i would rather have a late year P1 than any bugeye ??
