Should I Keep My WRX Under 3000 RPM For First 1000 Miles?
#1
I was advised by my local subaru dealer to keep my WRX under 3000RPM for the first 1000 Miles (ie 1st oil change) to gain maximum performance later on? Does this really make a difference or am i safe to floor it as soon as i drive it away?

Run it in properly as the dealers says. Plenty of people will tell you to floor ir but will they be around to give you a lift when it breaks and you have to walk home

The main thing is to keep the engine stress free for the first 1000 miles. Also avoid harsh braking to let the pads bed in.
That means gentle build up of revs through each gear. And dont let revs drop too low,so the engine is labouring, before changing down a gear.
Also avoid cruising at a steady engine speed for mile after mile, try & vary the revs up & down.If you have to do a lot of motorway miles, try & mix it with some town driving to work the gearbox.
I did most of my 1000 running in miles in the dead of night on an almost deserted A12 & A14.That way I could go from 2500 up to 4000 in cycles as I went along. With no traffic to wonder why I kept speeding up & then slowing down.
Once you have had the 1000 mile service you can start to play.
Warm the engine/oil well before you play though,& let it all cool down for a good few minutes before you turn the engine off.
