Just noticed 5x year 2000 (W,X reg) Scoobs for sale on the front page of the for sale forum.
Is this because the warranty has run out or is the new shape more popular than Subaru think?
Is 3yrs the average length of Impreza ownership before getting another?

Mines on there for sale.

To be honest it was only ever a stop gap between Honda S2000s, although it has been a lot of fun. Selling it because I want another S2000.

I guess it is because of the warranty, and also because the running costs start increasing a bit after 3 yrs. Brake discs, 60k service etc.

The reason I'm selling my MY00 is because I'm expecting my first child in a couple of months and wanted to free up some cash and get something more family like.

For me it didn't have anything to do with the warranty - otherwise I would've just taken out an extension. Running costs are something you expect from running a car like this - so there are no surprises.

Mines on there too. It's nothing to do with the warranty - not that that applies in my case anyway being a Dutch import - just a case of needing some cash for a wedding. I just wish I could keep the scoob and get married too. Last night I was joking with the girlfriend about who or what I love most... her or the scoob. She won - just!

Your selling because you want a family car, I am buying because I want a family car. Selling the Legacy for an Impreza STI, now that I have 2 kids in the back I don't need the extra legroom, and the boot is the same size. And for that one trip a year where I need more space, the top box works a treat.

I'd still rather have a B4 though.

The top box that I got was a Thule.

It had the internal dimensions that I need, carries skis, pram and other bulky items that don't weigh too much and leaves the boot free for the suitcases.

The mounting bars that I use are the genuine Subaru ones because I wanted something that was designed for the vehicle and would not damage the paintwork. The legacy ones are quite a clever mount design once setup it is a quick lever release similar to push bike wheels in design. The quick release is behind a locked cover so no worries over theft. I won't get the Impreza mounts until I need them in January when I go skiing again so don't know what they are like.

Thumbs up

try here

I have Subaru (Mont Blanc) roof bars on my wagon (already on vehicle when I purchased it) and they are fine. Thule Roof box as well ... great for 2 weeks away with kids.

Hamish.
