Red face

Need a new windscreen due to large stone crack, have windscreen cover which is £60 excess (£10 more because its an import)

THe windscreen company have been quoted £2100 for the screen because its a bronze tint on a my93 wrx !!!!!

Obviously insurance company arent very keen on this basically wont approve,

now I can put in a UK one with a green tint, but this isnt going to look right, so just about to phone up my insurance company and explain to them that they are insuring an import, charing me extra for the windscreen excess because its an import and that I think they should pay for it.

Lets see what happens.

£2100 thats madness. Most insurnace companys only pay to a limit on wind screens I think mine is something like £650.
Have you tried a breakers like Grade A, might be an option.
Cheers.

They can't have it all their own way. You pay for the cover, make them provide it. Give them hell.

Sick to death of insurance companies being fast enough taking the money and then not wanting to know when they have to provide the service they were paid for.

can see how the car will be a write off, would say its worth about 4k before they would look at writing it off.

have given them until 4 today to come up with a solution to what is basically their mistake, whats the betting i dont hear from them !!

I did see somewhere recently that all jap imports should have the windscreen replaced as part of the SVA as their windscreens are not as strong as ours. I don't know how much truth is in this tho. If it is true, you should have a uk windscreen in.

Shock Horror !!!!

Just had message from insurance company that they are prepared to pay the full amount less the £60 excess !!!!!

Also had a chat with the windscreen guy about replacing the whole of the glass with UK spec blue tine, i.e. all 6 windows, and this comes in at £2,020, said this to the insurance company and they just said "ok, what ever you prefer"

Somewhat amazed, it just seems that they gave in too easy
