It seems as if its not going as fast as it should do.

Had a bit of a race with an identicl car yesterday and he was considerably quicker. I get a nasty burning smell when around 6000 RPM.

Seems the Revs are there but no power.

Local dealer seems to think either clutch or exhaust. Anyone else with an STi 8 had the same problems?

It seems to run out of steam and 5000 - 6000

Mine still has a few burning smells etc but reading on here people say its normal for the first month or so.

Are you sure the car was identicle ??? wasnt a PPP or something was it?

Mine pulls all the way round to the red line but i find changing up before is beneficial

Ah right,

Cant help ya then mate. I guess the best way to find out is put it on a rolling road somewhere and compare the results compared with those from Prodrive. Mind you even that wont help 100% coz all figures will depend on atmosperic conditions and each car is different.
Could always drive it through ya dealers window and say '''got done by another one, dont want it anymore'''' haha

Had it on the rollers, got 200 BHP at wheels, which is about right. But there is something wrong with it. I have no doubt.

You should be well over 200bhp at the wheels, mine does 214bhp and it's not PPP'd. J

Could have been better??

Its meant to be a Middle Peformance Model (ST170/RS/Cossie)
just like the old range used to look like (XR3i/RS2000/Cossie)

Comparing it to the right car you will see that it is a HUGE improvement, and comparing it to an STi8 is wrong it is meant to be compared to the Standard WRX, and when it is, it comes out on top...

Cheers,
Grant

P.S - All of the above is IMHO!!!

Cool

Compare it all day long to my WRX and the Scooby will always win (of course that my opinion and that's why I bought a proper 4wd car not a 2wd shopping trolley!)....only joking.

Anyway, back to the original point of the thread - hope you get the STi 8 sorted soon. Certainly doesn't sound like its performing as it should.

Actually, been giving this some thought....

The interior of the RS is truly awful but the Scooby one is worse. Do they make it out of recycled McDonalds containers?

The Torque steer is a problem but when the 4wd one arrives its gonna whip your asses

Today, I saw 1 RS (mine) and 7 Scoobies. There are just too many around which is why your residuals are so bad now.

Just my two penny worth

My RA was measured at 195bhp at the wheels and is plenty quick enough for me mind due being over 200kgs lighter than the sti8 has got to help a bit.

190 at the wheels sounds about right as a couple of decatted P1s on the same day as me were getting around 190bhp at wheels and 290 at the fly.

They do take plenty of miles to loosen up. The other car did it have a similar mileage as yours ?. I noticed a big difference after 5000 miles in its rev-ability. Now takes a lot of effort to stop it hitting the 7,500 redline.

Chris cant vouch for the other car. I could not catch up to stop the chap. It does really feel as though it runs out of puff at 5000 - 6000

First of all are you talking Scoobies in general or STi8's? (If it was 8's then you need to stop hanging around outside the showroom! If it wasn't then it's not a fair comparison).

And secondly sales figures must speak for themselves

Edited to apologise for contributing to the hijack

A friend of mine test drove the dorf...sorry ford, and was glad to get out of it!

He started to overtake a lorry, booted it, and nealy steered back into the lorry with the tourqe-steer. Thank you....but no thank you. Power is nothing without control

Very good on the track, but when do you get tarmac like that on today's roads??

PS. If pete is reading, sorry to dis em m8. I know how defensive you are of anything with a blue oval on the bonnet!!

I'm sorry but all these people who say:

"My mate drove it and said it was crap"
"Clarkson said its crap"

I urge you to actually drive it yourselves before blurting out your opinion on it...

To the people who say "Its only good on track and we dont get decent enough tarmac to drive it properly on the roads", thats bull$hit as well, if the road surface is that bad then you shouldn't be pushing your car hard/driving fast. If you do then you are no better than the scummy wee neds who fly about in their sh!tbox Nova's, only difference is that you risk bending a £20k+ car whereas they are only going to crash a 200quid bucket of shyte...

To Cupraman, I'd just like to apologise for butting into your post...

Hope your STi8 gets fixed quickly and easily mate.

Cheers,
Grant
