Hi all, this is my first post there so please be gentle

I drive a UK WRX 4 door today (a MY03 I guess - its brandnew), and have always heard about how mental they are, but my god they are insainely quick!

I have got a Honda Integra Type R at the moment, and thats amazing in itself, but the Impreza has so much power, and the grip levels and handling through country lanes is simply astonishing! I guess the 4WD system is the secret there.. No wheel spin through corners like i my Honda. Hehe.

After coming back from the test drive, I have the bug to own one of these myself.. Its just which one. Mmm it would have to be a used car, and I'd quick like a Wagon for the understated look..

I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions for me please?

- I am after somethhing around the year BEFORE they did the frog eye models. Would that be 2000 at the latest?

- Are the UK spec cars similar to the JDM models? I know they used to be down on power when they were first out over here.

- The car I drove was a 4Dr 220 bhp model - are the pre-frogeye models that sort of spec in the UK?

- As far as performace, suspension setup goes, are the 5 -dr wagons identical to the saloons?

Sorry if this has been asked a million times before, and if you have it on an FAQ or soemthing - I thought I'd just come out with it and ask everything in my first post here

Thanks very much!

Try these links out

For £10k you'd be struggling to find anything newer than a 99, have a look in the for sale section to get an idea on price.
Welcome aboard

Hello M8

I have been debating over the matter of Subaru vs other with a friend of mine for ages, and have also recently buckled.

I am about to purchase (all done bar the singing) the Subaru WRX on a '98, which is costing about 9k. It is in pretty good nick, and I am really looking forward to taking delivery!!

Lets hope its a little more reliable than the cossie I have in the garage with no engine as always!!!

Good Luck

James

My (model year) 2001 = Bugeye, before that all classics.... bonnet and front bumper chages in 96 and 98 respectively

- Are the UK spec cars similar to the JDM models? I know they used to be down on power when they were first out over here.
All JDM's have more power, except for STI8's I believe, which are the same (correct me if I'm wrong someone ) Basically due to different fuel and turbos....

- The car I drove was a 4Dr 220 bhp model - are the pre-frogeye models that sort of spec in the UK?
More or less, 208 - 215 BHP standard...

- As far as performace, suspension setup goes, are the 5 -dr wagons identical to the saloons?
Yep, infact some peeps think that the 5dr's have better aerodynamics....

Have a look throught the SIDC FAQ's page....
