Question for a simpleton
#1
I'm just about to change my rad as old one has popped. Is there a technique for putting the water in/ bleeding it?
Also:
When I changed the oil last it took ages to get the right level, is there a technique for this too?
Thanks.

Dont know about the rad bit. When you check the oil,on level ground of course, take the dipstick out and let the oil which finds its way up the dipstick tube drain back into the engine, Then dip the oil. The top hole is for cold oil and the notch for hot.

Sorry did not see your latest until now. Yes it does seem to take a while for the oil to drain into the sump completely. The thing to be careful of is overfilling because you have not waited long enough between top ups. If it is overfilled it is possible for oil to find its way into the boost solenoid and cause boost and running problems. It is quite possible to clean the solenoid out but a nuisance.
Dont understand why Luke brought PS Lewis into this

Cheers Leslie.
I changed the rad ok but 3 days later it spat a load of the water outta the over flow (at least a litre) recon this could have been an a block or something?? Seems to have been fine since then....
Thanks
Chris
