I'm running a P1 with a Prodrive P1 rear silencer.
Usually I run it on Optimax. Or SUL if I can't find a Shell garage.

If I was to start using an octane booster, would that result in the engine being at a much greater risk if I then had to use SUL (or Optimax) without any booster (e.g. ran out of it, forgot to pack it etc.)

It sounds like I should invest in a knocklink but where can I get one and how easy (or not) is it to fit?

Cheers,

Vindaloo.

I'm no machanic mate but i would not run a p1 without octane boost. I was at TSL yesterday and saw what was left of the pistons on a p1 that wasn't using octane boost( not sure if it was on optimax or not ) and it had only covered 19,000 miles. You should still be ok if you run out of octane boost but DO NOT put regular unleaded in.

guys

according to the handboo, a P1 can run on SUL or Optimax, (that i do no).

i thought the octane boost would not have any effect as the car is not set up for that, unlike the jap imports where they run on 100 ron?? ( i might be talking out of my @rse here)

P1-day

yes subaru do say that it can run on optimax s/u, but the added octane can only help, even as a preventative measure.
I have a uk MY96 that is slightly modified and have recently started using octane boost which subaru say isn't needed.
I have found that the cars runs alot smoother and is keener to rev.
So while subaru say it isn't needed it doesn't mean that there aren't any benefits.

Just my opinion though, does anyone agree/disagree
