Thanks for the comments on the computer. As a Scoob fan myself I just had to have one anyway! They're all made to order so some customisation is possible as well.
Like most things in life you can do it yourself and there's quite a lot of help out there. Have a look at the via website www.viaarena.com or www.mini-itx.com. Make no mistake though it's not as straightforward as you might think. You might save some money but not as much as you'd think and I'll guarantee it'll take a lot longer than you think.
I'm using mine as a home theatre system with wireless keyboard and mouse, SVideo connection to the TV and SPDIF to my 5.1 Amp. There's no need for a monitor as you can use the TV. As the PC doesn't need a fan it's as quiet as the video as well.
