Another WRX oddity? Thanks to the wind this weekend, I find that my 03 WRX wanders on the motorway, particularly with a crosswind. Any ideas how I can cure this (an STi lower spoiler has been suggested) or is this a "feature"? Anyone else experienced the same?

picked my car up on friday night from leeds (Well Lane Turbo Centre) and drove back to london in the worst rain and wind i've ever experienced and was amazed at the composure of the car, it didnt show any sign of "death wobble" at all.......did 100mph all the way home...well you've got to run these cars in properly (actually at 100mph it was still showing just under 4,000 rpm)...

Cheers guys - have checked tyre pressures etc and it is very stable at high speeds (e.g. 5,000 rpm in 5th!) except when it gets windy .....
Has been suggested (elsewhere) that it may be my camber settings - not enough negative .....

Madmark, yes I have had the same concerns with my MY03 in cross winds compared to my previous car (BMW328ci). Particularly noticeable over the Severn Bridge; but appears to be less apparent at circa 100mph rather than 80mph - maybe because the rear spoiler is actually having a real affect at the higher speed?

I had a MY99 until last summer. The MY03 is miles better IMHO and I think a huge improvement. I spent 3 hrs on the motorway (M40/M1) at the weekend and didn't notice any real problems with the stability. I have noticed that the understeer has gone and been replaced with some 4 wheel drift. Fantastic

Just reading the above and I can tell you that when I got my WRX 01 I had the same problem, wasn’t very pleased, when doing 90+mph with side wind, the car would feel unstable and move quite a bit from side to side, while looking at the car it does come a bit high as standard, so just after having it new for 1 month I changed the springs to H&R which are stiffer than standard and also lower the car -35mm, and I can assure you that this did the job for me, now on a windy day I don’t have that problem!!
