Engine Bay Cleaning
#1
Degreased and steam cleaned mine last week with a commercial high pressure hot water jet wash
No probs..looks like new. Does'nt even need any of that laquer to make it shine
Just put a polythene bag over your alarm siren and filter (if you have a cone) and secure with elastic bands. Obviously avoid close proximity (less than 6") to vital components like MAF sensor, coil packs, fuse boxes alternator, intercooler etc.
Make sure the engines warm too, and and start immediatly after your done.
If you have an air line handy, blow off all the water.
Disclaimer: Mine was ok, but don't blame me if it starts missfiring and stuff

Now that ive got my scooby (cheers Mark)....
I need to give it a deep clean...
I used to clean the engine bay on last motor using Autoglym degreaser, slow running water from a hose pipe and then some vinyl & rubber cleaner for the pipes.
How safe is it to hose the engine in these motors? what do I need to make sure I cover up?

no... lol
i use that 'traffic film degreaser' from Mashine Mart.
its about £4.99 a gallon (5-litres)
use a de mister sprayer.. so fill that up and spay over the engine and in the really dirty places... let it stand 10mins to work in... then jet was off.
mine came up lovely
keep away from your Strobe lights and Neons too
