OK, I've read the historical posts with regard to Scooby drive by problems at Bedford Autodrome, but I'm now unsure how this has been left.

1) Are Scoobs still welcome at the Autodrome?
2) If my car has been fitted with a PPP (no other mods) will the drive by regs be a problem?
3) Is the May 24th event - 3.5KM Gran Turismo circuit inappropriate for a track newbie?

Any answers (or opinions) appreciated.

Cool

1) Scoobs are - SIDC isn't as I understand it

2) MY99 PPP not a problem for the reduced test on the SIDC day (close though on static) that was a problem. PPP zhorsts aren't that loud anyway

3) GT Circuit is fine but expect STis etc to leave you for dead on the straights - unless you are an STi? Run-off is excellent so not too likely to damage your car as not much to hit either. Recommended for newbies IMHO

Thanks for the reply.

No, car will be either my standard MY03 WRX or with PPP if the parts come in before the event.

Silly question, but how do I call you for more info?

The thing about being a newbie - isn't a 3.6 mile track a bit much to go for at the first opportunity - there are no instruction places left to book?

Thumbs up

Might worth trying to get someone who has been before to help you out.

Instruction is very important IMHO for a newbie.

Take it easy, talk to other drivers and listen to the briefing. Who is running the event?

Thing is that its a lot of straights...

Makes no difference the length of the track, its getting the corners right. They normally provide entrance, apex & exit cones to guide you to the correct lines round corners, so concentrate on getting them right.

Start slow & build up confidence & speed. Keep a good eye out on your mirrors & pull over (to the right) on straights but not inside the braking zone or on corners, to let others go past. Slow in to corners to start with & see how it goes. Its a driver improvement day, not a race so the speed you go is up to you.

Thanks for the responses.

Think I will book this or one of the autocar evening events at the same venue and see how I get on.

Silverback,
It's a great circuit to learn on , My STi7 300 bhp PPP'd had no problems with Static test which, I could not influence as Autodrome Employee had meter and Autodrome employee watched Rev counter

It also sailed through the 'Driveby' test My Car were DRIVEN by Autodrome employee ( Who did remark this goes REAL well could not influence the driveby reading

On the long straight got 136mph

Tony

Ps never cheated at anything in my life (now 48)
