I've read on the Eta Tauri site about WRX's having Retracting Door Mirrors on them. What I want to know is:

What year were they first introduced?

What models do they come on?

As you know I'm getting a 1997 WRX Wagon and I'm curious as to know if it'll have the Retracting Door Mirrors.

As far as I know all wrxs have them from 95 onwards. I assume RAs and perhaps type rs dont. The 22B does.

I definitely have them on mine which is a saloon MY96.

I would guess that your wagon will have.

By retracting, do you mean mirrors that retract themselves when you switch off the engine, or retractable ones, i.e. ones you have to do yourself?

Just curious...

Doh! slip of the finger! My wagon will be a 1994 and [b]NOT 1997 thus it looks like I'll be without the auto folder mirrors.

Must be a bast to replace if they get damaged though, so it might be a saving grace if I don't have them

OK, as some of you have these thingys then is there an override to get it to do it/stop doing it?

What's the score if you park, with the mirrors folded flat, and you come back and find that ********* have parked too close and the mirrors would hit something if you turn on the engine? I know this is unlikely as you'd probably not be able to get in the car anyway.

Question

Do they fold flat every time you turn the ignition off - I have to hit a switch on mine to fold them flat, and toggle the switch to fold them out again afterwards.

pnebbs:
where is the switch located? (got a pic?)

Can you fold them in and out with the engine on? If so then could be fun when you're stuck in a jam, wag the car's ears

I wasnt aware that automatic ones existed.

Mine are fully controllable whenever the ignition is on. They can be moved any way and stopped at any position. I fined moving them in slightly on the go reduces wind noise on motorways enormously.

I might see if I can design a circuit where they can be made to fold in automatically when the ignition goes off and out agin when it comes back on. Obviously this would need a switch (otherwise would make it difficult to clean the mirrors/windows )

Wink

If you fold 'em in, can you go faster?
