Thanks for the invite Scooby_si, unfortunately can't make it this
weekend though, another time maybe... Hopefully my GTI-6
wouldn't be considered to be too much of a shed for you all !!
Shame really, it's only a couple of miles down the road from my
house.
I keep seeing a Sonic Blue STI-4 (I think) on my way home from work
on the stretch of London Road by Safeways, must be one of you guys.
If so, bep if you see me ! Blaze yellow GTI-6 P reg, on 17's & magnex exhaust..

Hi, i'm looking to invest in my first scooby in the coming months
and was wondering what was the best model to go for in peoples
opinions, and how much I should really be looking to pay for one.
So far I am just looking at dealers for a bit more peace of mind etc.
I have looking at V/W Reg UK Turbo's so far with around 30'000-35'000 miles and they are anywhere between £12500-14000,
but have recently come across the Terzo, which I also like but is
obviously that bit older and inevitably higher mileage in general.
I have seen one particular Terzo at a dealer reg R302 *** which I really like (Does anyone know the history of this car ?) , advertised at £11995 47K miles which i'm sure is far too much even for a dealer car what sort of price do these go for and how do they compare to the UK turbo's i'm looking at.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to end up
regretting my purchase.

Dealers take the **** big time. I was looking on the subaru website and saw a very very blue turbo. Ad'd at about £13k for an R reg classic.
Looked at parkers for a guide , that model with mileage etc.. came to about £8500 or so from parkers.
Dealers like to mark the price up a bit.

I bought my first scoob 4 weeks ago, spent many hours trawling through Autotrader/Topmarques and visting various dealers. Was dead set to buy lowest mileage, newest classic shape I could find. That all went wrong when I came across a dealer with an MY99 RB5 with PPP, heart said yes and head followed. At the end of the day, my personal view is although you may pay slightly more with a main dealer, you do get more piece of mind. There will always be acception to the rule, but at least do everything in your power to ensure Scoob ownership is fun and not a headache.

hi mate and welcome to the dark side , i have a terzo and i'm thinkng about selling at the mo i have'nt told anybody about this yet so your the first to know , you can see it at www.terzo.co.uk then go to more pics then even more pics , it's number 228 , it has 27000 miles on it with full service history , fully colour coded i'm looking for 13,000 for this stunning looking car .

hi grahame regarding the terzo the used prices are 20% higher than standard cars due to only 333 made this should also be true when u sell it ,ive seen them recently in main subaru dealers for 12k to 14k if they are good although i got mine from a rover dealer 4 months ago with 43k fssh 12 months warrenty for £10.995 they also seem to go for 9k-10k private hope that helps m8

Buy one, but know it will:
o be expensive to run
o understeer a bit

Why are you so desperate for a Terzo? I had one. They are no different from the other MY98s apart from cosmetic reasons (colours, alcantara seats, oh and aircon as standard) and the fact that you can't put the rear seats down to get anything big in the boot. It's a matter for argument with many, but debatably the later ones had marginally more reliable engines (note debatably and marginally - only the enthusiasts would notice).
You do get peace of mind from dealer but as brett said they do take the ****.

Graham , Ive just picked up a MY00 classic UK spec car with 25K and FDSH for 13,995 incl 4 brand new tyres etc and dont feel like ive been fleeced its at the top end of your price range but its worth it. Best of luck mate.

I've had a MY95 turbo, a MY98 turbo and now a MY02 STi. All very different. Assuming you have 11-14000 to spend you'll be able to get just about any classic shape for that kind of money. I would suggest that the MY99 is probably the best bet. It had 4 pot calipers at the front, probably the best evolution of the classic shape and the best engine of all the classics (some MY00 owners report poor performance compared to earlier models).

Well, my Local-est (?) one is Carstins in balsall common,
The Terzo is at Solihull, and there are a few UK turbos
at Fenny Compton, by Southam that i'm going to have a look at
on Friday, none have which have Air-con but it's good to look at
a few different ones.

Try to find the price of having aircon fitted aftermarket. It used to be £1500, then it came down to £1000. Not sure if they can still do it for classic models, but it might widen your scope.

can discuss dealers with u in person if u like as i have used Carstins myself & no problems as it were but i wood say beware or part synth oil due to the fiats, isuzus etc they service n all

) does have mucho stand out value both as 1 of if not the quickest imprezas as well as the funky 2 door thing 
Anyway enough of my fantasies the choice is yours & there's plenty 2 choose from so it's just a case of wot u seek?

I think the P1 makes most sense from £ point of view. Affordable - about 16k for an early car (Bell & Colvill have one in for £16,995 at the moment) and will have best long term residuals. Also much cheaper to insure and hence run vs an Import and you can trade it in at any dealer when you finish with it (unlike imports).
Driving experience - needless to say the P1 is a step up from other UK cars (22b excepted).

identical to the one I wanted to go and see at the dealers (which
has now sold - bugger !). But to be honest if I was to go for a Terzo I wouldn't want to spend any more than £10500-11000.
I'm sure yours is worth the extra, but I have set a limit and
must stick to it !!
