Any problems with this?
#1
Having been a massive Mitsubishi fan for some years, I am now considering joining the Dark Side and getting a Scooby.
I was actually looking at getting an imported STi Type UK from a car supermarket (huge saving) and was wondering if anybody thought that I would have any difficulty in getting the PPP fitted by a UK dealer and also, do UK dealers have a problem with servicing imported cars?
Apologies if this is an old topic as this is my first post and I couldn't see it covered anywhere else.

The trouble with the car supermarkets is that you dont exactly know where they import their cars from and as its been seen in the past with the MY02 STi some of them come from Cyprus (a non eu country and thus no warranty/subaru uk wont touch!)
I personally would go and check out www.litimports.co.uk as the price will add up roughly the same in the end (plus you get an alarm and tracking system where as the car supermarkets dont give you one) and a decent warranty (also these cars are imported from the continent ).

Thanks for your advice guys. This is a real difficult one for me as the saving to be had is the best part of 3K which is difficult to ignore (especially for she who must be obeyed!).
I would much rather support my local UK dealer but like I said, that sort of saving could be difficult to ignore. Maybe I'll give them a bell and see if there's anything they can do for me!!!

From what I've heard in the past on ScoobyNet, UK dealers will not PPP any non-UK cars. They have to be fitted by the relevant dealer. This is normally be in another country.

Again, thanks for your advice guys. I can't believe what an unfeasibly difficult decision this is for me to make! I always said that I wouldn't buy an import but now I'm just not sure.
