To DIY, Independent or Subaru Dealer

The wife's Forester T need new front brake pads, question is do I
1.) Carry out the work myself?
2.) Use a good independent garage (cheaper than dealer) that I trust as they do all the work on my STI 5?
3.) Use the Subaru Dealer that does the regular service?
Is there any reason to use Subaru Pads (Ferrodo I think) over say Mintex ones? For what reason should I go to the dealer to do this work. I can't think of a reason as its not book stamping? My preference is to use the independent just because I don't really have the time myself.

It will be quicker to do it yourself than to drive anywhere, wait, get the job done, pay, drive home. Particularly when they find they have got the wrong part in and you have to go back again
Using Subaru pads there can be no argument about warranty as no-one will know who fitted the pads. Using pads of equal or better quality means that there should be no comeback but the onus of proof will be on you if anything goes wrong, using cheapo pads (but I can't think of any off hand) you are deffo on your own.
If you tell your insurance company they will probably increase your premium by 10% as (if?) you are not a trained mechanic
