Hi guys, I know I havn't got a scooby but I have got the 100i kit on my Astra, Its a great kit and on turbo cars the power delivery is almost doubled to begin with, ie the 25BHP jets deliver almost 50BHP in perfect conditions.
I have noticed the turbo spin up is improved by a massive amount and the overall fitting of the kit is a doddle.
Well worth the expense in my opinion.
Copy and paste the link for an install pic.

nothing sad about Nitrous mate, got mine fitted to the astra well before TFATF came out. Well worth the money spent imo.
anything that lets you wheelspin in all five gears in the wet is worth it in my book.

I think most will I think Tesco's would when I was asking them......Greenlight probably will. Also as it as a switchable thing can't you say you are only going to use it on track days ?

You would have to anyway as I thought it was illegal to use on the road anyway.

IIRC the only stipulation for legal road use is that you display a compressed gas (green?) sticker on the vehicle in question.

Hehe, it was very cool and if I wasn't worried about what it would do to the engine I would have it :P

So, what damage or effect does it have on the engine, it must have some?!?

I'd potentially be interested, pending some no-bollx info regarding;

1. Legality

2. Engine longevity

3. Running costs

4. Hassle factor of refilling the NOS bottle

check with insurance first

mine would be invalidated if fitted, and disconnected for track use only.

they will not insure me even if i remove the bottle and say its for track use only

If anyone knows of nos friendly insurance please post here

I've used the Highpower systems on my Supra MKIV 100 Progressive, and also on my 1200 bandit, the highpower kits are OK, 5lb bottle however is to small and I purchased a 10lb NOS bottle, also the highpower kits come with nylon hoses, and would recomend they get replaced with steel braided items, the solonoids's are supposed to be tge best around, altohough If I did it again I'd go for a NOS or NX system, at the end of the day they are american and the yanks have been running nitrous for years, also they come with steel braided hoses and the bottle look the muts

The only problem I've ever had with highpower systems it on my bandit 12, I fitted the kit my self and ran it down to big cc racing to get it set up (ensure you get it setup properly), when testing the kit on the rolles it turned out that the fuel distribution chamber had not been drilled, so no fuel could get through, if I gone off and strarted running gas it would have killed my engine. Fortunatly they where very good and tested the fuel before running any gas!!!!, as for my sure I was rinning 100bhp metering jets with a progressive controller, quite a kick

As for metering jets when running the 25 jets on the bandit it only produced 15bhp so they opened the jets up to give the 25

I used to run NOS on my Gti6, and it was good fun - until my bottom end had to be rebuilt - the cause, oil starvation because the standard sump couldnt cope with the increased acceleration round the twistys. Nos may not have been "the cause" but was a contributory factor, i.e. it highlighted weaknesses in the design of the engine. I ended up buying a new engine.

Just an example of running costs:

11lb bottle - £45 a refill. Lasts about 7 mins on 50BHP jets.
Plus it increases fuel consumption (obviously).

Performance is undeniably improved and is great fun. It does increase wear of the engine, but only because it will be going faster, quicker. I wouldnt put it on my subaru, because the cost of a rebuild is very expensive - and I dont think my warranty would cover nos hehe.

There is a grey area of road legal - you need to display a Compressed Gas Sticker, and MOST insurance companies wont touch you. Plus, if you get pulled by the Police, they may check your NOS and report you to your insurers - just to make you prove you are covered.

Telboy.
1) It's totally legal to use. (should inform your insurance tho)
2) If you aren't running silly amounts of nos, your engine will be fine.
3) It only uses extra fuel when nos is in use, so running costs are the cost of a refill, plus the fuel you use emptying it.
4) Refilling could be abit more awkward. If you have a BOC place near you you should be ok, but the might not be too happy if you tell them the nos is for a car. You could raid the dentists at night :P
