Warranty question
#1
Im buying an 01 WRX with 18 months of warranty left on it. The car's owner lives in SOuthampton, and I live in Hull.
Now, Ive never had a car with manufacturers warranty before, so whats the situation?
Do I have to fill in forms to transfer the warranty, or is it just the case that as long as I dont miss the services and get them done by a Subaru dealership, I'll not need to do anything?
Im sure I wont need it for anything, but I'd like some info / advice from anyone who knows about it, and Im sure Im not the only one on here whos wondered about this.
Ta.

AFAIK Paul, the service book etc that comes with the car, has new owner registration details. If you follow these and fill them in, send it off to subaru, and they should confirm the warranty has changed to you.
You then still follow their guidelines for the warranty to count.

Steve, I knew YOU'D know
So, Mr Clever Trousers, where do I take it for servicing then? Jordans!?!?!? MUAUAUHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAAAAAA!
NO WAY! Not if it was a pedal go-kart.
Anyone know of a GOOD Subaru dealer near Hull who can service it then? I'd rather use a word of mouth recommended one that look in the yellow pages.

Check that the service schedule is complete otherwise it won't have a warranty to worry about Also check the annual bodywork check has been completed or that will be void.

Is the bodywork warranty really an issue?
My 96 hasnt got a single rusty patch on it, but if this warranty item is still coveredthen Id certainly keep it up to date.
But does anyone ever recall seeing a rusty scoob??

Jordans (Never used, but near to you)
Pulleyns in York (I used to deal with Nick in service, never used them on this car though)
KT Green in Leeds if you want to travel.
Chapmans at Pickering, never used, but sounde very helpful.
SG Petch at Richmond, very helpful to me, but then i did buy 2 cars off them in 4 weeks
All Subaru dealers, try them, if you dont like them, go elsewhere.
Mail me, if you want any more comments.

It is a UK car? If it's a Euro it will be different
Re the paint work warranty - I've got a couple of blisters on my MY01 on the bonnet which I may be able to get sorted, had I had the inspections done

Pulleyn's in York seem ok. I bought my MY00 UK Turbo from them and recently had to have it back in to have the 02 sensor replaced under warranty with no problems.
Make sure you get the Subaru Assist booklet when you pick up the car and fill in the Warranty Transfer form inside then send it off. To maintain the warranty you have to have the car serviced by a Subaru dealer at the specified intervals and not modify it!! At the end of the 3-year period you can buy an extended warranty which will cover you for a further 12 or 24 months or up to 60,000 miles. You also get breakdown assistance included.
I wouldn't take mine to Jordan's, I wouldn't even buy one from them - that's how I ended up at Pulleyn's in York.
So are you in Garden Village then? Down the "dual carraigeway" bit?

Everbody has a different view on dealers Scooby New, thats why i suggested "trying" them and move on if you dont like.
Everyone has some good points and some bad, just depends really, which is sad.
I no longer use Pulleyns, but that was not the service managers fault.

As i say, the Service from Nick was fine. Not happy with other things though. Long, long story.
I bet if you mentioned my number plate in there, they would call me all the names under the sun, and no doubt come up with some constructive comments about me
Still makes me laugh when they told the recovery guy (after MAF sensor went on my car) that the lad that drives this is "*/-+/-*/, etc, etc"
Delivery driver = MY DAD
That was the straw that broke the camels back, oh and that they were offering me £13500 for a 99T (in July 2001) with 32000 on the clock, full prodrive body kit, 17's, etc, etc against a Trooper costing £3000 more but older My car cost £24000 new, they had some with more mileage on the clock, on their forecourt, the same day, at £17k+
It all started from day one really, when i ordered the car!!

You never know, it could just be me. Try them and see hwta you think, they may have gone up in my estimations. As i have said, the servicing was fine.
Still makes me laugh, especially as my dad then rang me on my mobile and told me. I instantly ring service manager, and ask him to ask the mechanic what his thoughts were. Service manager forgot to tell mechanic that it would be my dad bringing the car

Been away last few days hence no replies.
Buzz - no not stalking, honest! I've driven past a few times and spotted Scoob in driveway. Saw your post in the For Sale forum recently and recognised the location from the piccy. So when are you picking up the new toy??
P20SPD - what a set of muppets!!! Can't believe they slagged you off to your DAD!!!! "Open mouth, insert foot....."

That's what I like to hear - keep the Scoob within the family!
I've got a Red Mica MY00 (I think I've told you this before in a previous thread!!), fully colour-coded, splashguards, gold alloys, quick-shift, Blitz induction, Afterburner centre and backbox, soon to have front lip added. You're probably more likely to hear me than see me!!!
Good luck with the new toy - I shall keep my eyes open for you.

HA! Me too!!
Did you grow up round that area? I grew up down St Andrew's Way, off James Reckitt. (I use the term "grow up" loosely!!) I'm 33 and went to Malet Lambert. We've probably met before!

You have to make sure the car is registered with IM, otherwise it doens't have any waranty in the UK - only holland.
Spk to IM warranty dept and they will send you a form to fill in.
