keep P1 or get Lotus exige
#1
Im thinking about selling my P1 to get a Lotus exige i have owned the scooby 1 year now and would like a change. Has anyone on here owned a exige and is there any thing i need to look out for when buying one any info would be great.
Also i did think about putting the P1 for sale on here but i think theres people on here not even thinking of buying causing prices to drop due to there comments on other peoples cars anyone agree.
Thanks Joe.

I love the Exige, I too am considering this as an option.
Sell scoob, buy a small family car on the cheap and have an Exige as a weekend car. Yes please, next year for me though..

Exige is fab - I've been having similar thoughts myself Totally different to a P1. I've really fancied the idea of a track focused second car. As an alternative have a look at a late model Elise Sport 160 - very nice - not quite as mental as an Exige though

Stick with the P1 - I wouldn't swap mine for another Lotus.
I had an Elise a few years ago - the old acronym 'Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious' is true.
The Exige is quick but beware all the magazine reports which normally assess it on the track. The P1 will thrash it on a country road every go.
The Lotus loses due to poor build quality, basic (and I mean basic) interior, seats give you a numb **** every 60 miles, scary as **** in the wet, not a long distance motor etc etc. i.e. not an every day car - as a weekend car maybe ok but I'd miss the P1 too much and couldn't cope with an ordinary motor through the week. Let's face it, how much nice weather do we get in this country for a fun motor like the Exige?

Agree with Gordo.
I think you should try one and see but think you'll find the following.
If you drive alot on the track and only need the car at weekends then get the Exige. If you need a boot and any ability to cover distances or most of your fast driving is on the road then stick with the P1. Exiges are all at the top end and not that quick unless you really wring them out (then they fly).
If you do want an Exige type experience and mainly drive on the road a VX220 turbo could be a better bet.
Lastly bear in mind that Elises are not selling very well new or s'hand - dealers are still asking way over the top prices for them.

VX220 turbo is a better all round car. Exige is a right laugh but tough to handle off a track espeically if you are big, I'm 6'4" and that thing is tiny. Superb fun though, completely different driving feel to a 4WD
