Unhappy

hi all,

a friend of mine - jolly fellow - is experiencing problems with his wastegate.

it is opening to early (we think) and only holding 0.7 bar of boost.

what is the soloution? his car is 96 wrx.
he had it on the rollers at powerstation and i showed 230ish bhp which is down on what it should be. could the xhaust effect the wastegate? he runs a jap spec big bore.

if he runs a dawes can he cure the problem? or make it worse?

answers on a postcard please!

thanx

I would off thought a stiffer spring needs fitting to the wastegate

here is john banks' Dawes FAQ

Could be a few reasons why your not holding boost though. Do a search in drivetrain

I will be along on the 8th

I dont think it can be anything to bad as the boost is held at 0.7. If it was the turbo i guess the boost would be all over the place?!?

These are the times that its good to own a scooby... got peeps like u lendin a hand and know what ur talkin about...

Heres the graph from powerstation

Would like that to be more 263 instead of 233

Personally, I'd make sure the car is running correctly before running a dawes, even if it could give the appearance of fixing the problem.

I take it he'll be along on the 8th. I hope to have a working monitor by then - it's working a bit better than the last time we showed you! **plan forming** sounds like an ideal test oppertunity

I'll bring along some solenoid cleaning stuff as well - it's helped mine in the past.
