With the Euro at 1.47 the difference between the eu import cost and the UK price is getting closer. Mine on order which has been delayed to Aprl 1st now is working out a at £17,184 with a sigma m3 fitted.

What is the best UK dealer price you have got ??. I went to Welch's Cambridge this morning and they would only chuck in Metalic Paint Mats and Flaps and wouldnt budge on £19,995. Giving flannel about it being a new model and supplies are running short.

And considering I have no trade in and will be paying cash this sucks. If I could find a deal for 19k I would cancel my EU order.

anybody got any good discounts ????.

I've heard of an Sti8 UK going for 23.5K cash. Which is as cheap as an import.

I would suggest emailing and ringing dealers to see who wants your business the most

discount cheapen our cars and give me/us poor p/x prices!! its unfortunate but thats the facts.

Smiley,
I hardly think the guy is whinging about price.I suggest you re-read his post again. He does have a valid point about the dealer not moving slightly on price.I don't read the post as being a 'whinge' (More looking to get a little discount, after all he's a cash buyer and there ain't many around!!)

Good luck!!

Phone round a few dealers. When me and a mate bought a MY97 each none of the local dealers were prepared to discount - After a couple of hours on the phone we managed to get 8% discount

Ditto. Just phone around. I'm sure someone's prepared to do a deal.

However, I do recall someone recently posting that he's called 30+ dealers and the best he'd been offered was a set of mats. Although that was on an STi

Surely he'd be more likely to get a discount if he were to be using the Subaru finance package as there is a margin in this for the dealer.

Thanks for the responses. I do realise not financing the car may not get the best discount. But as I have the cash waiting I dont really want to finance the car.

I will call a few dealers to get some deals over the phone. Would I be better waiting till after 1st March to call round ??. Should I mention about my EU ordered car ??. I hate dealing with car salesman they are only 1 rung above estate agents in my book.

Fail to see how you can cancel your EU order, unless the dealer offers it as a quick delivery car to one of their potential customers.

At the end of the day your still saving just under £3k for the same car, so whats the problem?

pbee,
check your contract out.

You'll probably lose your deposit so you're going to be better off sticking with your Euro order.

It's a bummer but you win some......

I had written in to my contract that I could pull out and get a full refund of my deposit as my Job is allways on a Knife edge (Damn American companies).

I will lose £195 if I pull out.

It is probably not worth the hassle to do so and will probably have to wait ages for the refund.

Damn gun ho Americans screwing the exchange rates.
