For anyone interested in building model cars (specifically STI) just been given model kit of Impreza STI and the detailing within the kit is fantastic (even has rotating directional rubber tyres - should look really good on the bookshelf. Details as follows:
1/24 Sports Car Series No231 - Tamiya Subaru Impreza WRX STI.
All I need now is the glue and about 10 pots of paint to start/finish it.

also look out on ebay, you can get a variety of impreza kits, the wrx road car and many rally cars, for best effect use tamiya TS50 spray paint. The color is excellent.
i am just about to start building my fujimi kit of the WRX Type R kit, the detail on this is also excellent it even has different front bumpers for the different versions.

I've just finished the Airfix WRC01. (rally argentina)
However, I've also bought the Tamiya WRC2001 (which is rally of GB) and Tamiya WRC '98 - Monte Carlo.
The Tamiya kits have pre-coloured gold wheels and Blue bodywork - and the 98 has wide slick rubber tyres....
I bought the latter from the Hobby Store in Bridgemere Gardening Centre, when I went to get paints for the former !

Done every static Tamiya model available. There is no Type R or MY03 as yet (AFAIK). Only Bug-Eye was WRC 01 atfer, the clasic 00 and pre' most were decalled/speced as per rally being tarmac or raly/snow etc.
Have a rather lovel RS4 r/c Impeza too. Worth the money! Great fun! highly recommend!

u can get GC8 sti models, the company Hasegawa does them, they make all the japanese road 'super' cars.
the only thing i found was that they came up slighlty narrower then tamiya's subaru version.
hasegawa kits also come with photo etched parts to add more detail then just the transfers of tamiya.
see my mates model site here that has a lot of my rally and road built models
Incidentally, i do have a few built scoobys for sale if any1 interested

when using normal car sprays just be careful as they plastic model could react to some, i always sprayed the base and the shell in a white plastic primer 1st (from halfords, very cheap). i found this gave a much better base for the paint to adhere to.
i used the blue mica spray that tamiya made specifically for the subaru rally models.
u can by these from hannants or another company called 'the model shop' who deal direct with Richard Khomstam who import tamiya stuff, i found them to be cheaper most of the time and delivery was a lot quicker.
hobbylink japan is a good site to look at as it shows all the new models that are out and due for our shores in the near future

If u want a MY93-MY96 1/24 GC8 WRX (both saloon & wagon), then only Hasegawa makes them. If u're going for a GC8 STi-R v4/5/6, then only Fujimi makes them. If it's the Bugeye u're after, then only Tamiya makes them. I'm only talking abt roadcars here.

I'm currently combining a Hasegawa GC8 WRX kit with a Fujimi STI VI kit to make a replica of my own car (sad I know )
I had to get the right wheels and rear spoiler somehow!
MrsREV wasn't impressed with the money I spent, so it'd better look good

I was in Annemasse (in France, other side of Geneva) today and there's a shop there called "Modeles" near La Place de la Liberation - a look in the window had me gobsmacked. The place was coming down with scoobies in all sorts of forms - kits to glue together and paint, small matchbox-like model cars, and best of all, the radio controlled versions at 1/7th scale - huge things which apparently get up to 60km/h. Only 300 quid! Anyone coming over for the Geneva motor show who is into model cars should check it out!
