Make sure you check your oil level.
Just done mine, it was on the bottom of the stick.
Only 2,500 miles since oil change!!!
Kept meaning to check it, but never got round to it.
Didn't think it would burn so much oil, in such a short time.

Supposedly there's only 0.5l between the top and the bottom of the stick so not much slack to play with.

Steve

How many miles are on yours? Don't cars use lots of oil when they are tight? I may be confused though

Paul,

Only done 3,500 miles total so hopefully it will ease off.

I am not sure how much I put in as it was part cans I used, but it was over 1 litre, I think.

Steve

If I am right (and I am probably not) that could explain it

Mine used 1/2 litre up to 6 months 5000miles. Had PPP and Oil change at that piont Now 3500 miles on and it uses about 1/2 litre every 1500 miles and still checking regularly

would be a very large bill for the sake of 1 litre of Oil. Also check what Oil dealer uses. mike only uses Semi-Synthetic so thats what goes in Would prefer Fully-Synthetic but who am I to argue.

Mine used a fair bit in the first 3,000. About a litre from memory.

Over the last 5k, I put in 0.25 litres at most.

I do get a huge oily blue cloud of smoke out the exhaust when it starts in the morning. Anyone else get that ?

Have to admit to never, ever checking oil/water, thats what the warning lights are for are for ???

I have an interim oil/filter change between services though.

7 months - 23,000 miles.

Warning lights normally come on when it's too late eg. when your oil pressure light comes on it means you're in trouble, not that you should think about checking it. Rather safe than sorry and check your cars fluids, etc. on a regular basis.

Big Goon

Maybe its worth benefiting from Steve's experience and Swan's advice. The costs of getting it wrong are astronomic. Oil levels can disappear for all sorts of reasons.
