Not reelvant but I doubt anyone will mind.

Given all the internet methods of sending free sms messages, I fheard of a great one today that you may not know.

Just send your text message by email to

number@mobe.net

thats all. Dont need to go to any web site or anything, just send directly via email.
The only annoyanc is that you get one back saying that it was delivered.

I sent mine through hotmail and got a little, get your free emails at hotmail ad after it.

Hope it helps maybe one person but since you are all in IT you probably all own the company.

Excuse me for being thick, but what does this give you? I'm an old mainframe boy and don't understand these new fangled PC type things

This is great! Normally it takes ages to type SMS into the phone, now I really annoy people by sending long, stupid jokes and messages! What a way to spend the day

Superb, idea, but all I get is a load of gobbledygook saying about message in a MIME format, etc.

Any ideas?

Phone is a Nokia 5110

Question

Sorry to post again, but I'm with Smudge, I get the MIME stuff (Nokia too)

On the bright side I got the message in just over 60 seconds - how the hell does it work that fast??

Thanks in advance

David

Am i being thick know? but what do you have to enter on your e mail? 07977254035@mobe.net as the address or number@mobe.net and the number in the settings. Please help as this would be a big help (and save me money)

Make sure your message is in plain text, not HTML - check your mail client configuration.

Send the message to <number>@mobe.net with a blank subject, and the SMS message text in the message body.

It worked for me, but took about 20minutes. This may have been a delay in my mail gateway though...

Sorry people, I give you something, then take it away.

It appears to be a bit of a con. After sending five messages, it asks you to sunbscribe saying the first five were free. I have just found this out.

Use them wisely.

At least I saved each of you about 50p.

I think the reason it doesnt always work is because it is only for GSM but then I suppose it is irrelevant now.

Sorry.

You can still text for free on the net but it is more complicated.

Adam

If this works, I've got 100+ Couriers in London needing details of jobs. For free (leased line to ISP).
