Buying a scooby, but from who. dealer or private?
#1
Looking at buying an impreza. But who do I buy from? Theres a dealer near me called Jap cars who's selling a K reg WRX for 5 and half grand. Which is about the same as some people are selling theirs for on here. But with a dealer I get a 12 month warranty.
Would it be better buying from a dealer with warranty or private?
Cheers

Private. I bought my 95 with a few mods for just under £5500 and probably less mileage than your dealer one.
There are bargains out there. Have you looked at importing yourself. Thats how i did mine

Here's a hint, just because you passed an MOT, doesn't mean that you'll pass the SVA easily..

I live in the North East of England, and I`ve looked on Auto Traders web site, in the free Auto exchange and Auto Freeway weekly books, and there seems to be a major shortage of Scoobs around my area. I was going to say ones that I could afford, but it`s just a general shortage, most prices.
I don`t know whether this is because the people up here already have them and don`t want to part with them, or nobody this far North has discovered them yet(!!).
I`ve tended to buy my recent cars from garages, but when I look at the mark ups on the few Scoobs around here, compared to ones in the For Sale section on this board, it`s frightening.
I have been wary of buying private with all the tales you hear of cut and shuts, and knicked motors being sold on, but I suppose if you do a bit of homework, it should be ok.
Looks like I`m going to have to travel 200+ miles just to get my hands on one. I`m hoping it`ll be worth it.
Now, who`s got one I can afford??

i have looked at about 20 scoobs in the last few weeks most of which were dealers and to be honest they are all fecked and thrashed to death so i will be looking at private sellers next as the dealers tend to overprice the cars and dont maintain them at all.
