STi PPP 300bhp
#1
ok - first ever post. I cant believe that I've found this unbelievable forum. hello everyone. there is probably a thread on this car already - so if there is and someone could point me in the right direction I would be grateful. I'm three years into a beautiful relationship with a standard UK turbo + all the kit and was thinking about changing up to the new car after reading evo + car this month (I'm sure she can wait for the engagement ring). I have to confess that I dont intend to use it for track days mainly for sprinting round london pissing off BMW and porsche drivers during the week and a lot of A and B roads during the weekend. Has anyone driven it? Is it actually too harsh for my rather wimpy purposes? shall I shut up and go away?

If you post your exploits on here about sprinting round london pissing off BMW and porsche drivers during the week and a lot of A and B roads during the weekend, make sure you have an asbestos overcoat, there can be some sensitive souls on here
Enjoy.....

Hi mate,
Just ignore Dave, he's becoming a right sarcastic old git
What he is suggesting is that you try the search facility - just click on the button top right.
General concensus on here is that a PPP'd UK STI 7 or 8 is, quite simply, the dogs danglies and the car that always should have been to replace the "classic" Scoobs.
Do a search and have a read.
Hope this helps

Don't shut up and go away. Welcome to Scoobynet.
I've had my STi8 for about 2.5 weeks, and the PPP for the last week.
I've previously had a '98 and a P1, and although I've only put around 1200 miles on the clock, I've been really impressed with the car. It's not to harsh around town, has a far better build quality, is much quieter, and handles beautifully.
The PPP is simply stunning! The increase power and torque make it a blindingly quick beatie. The only possible drawback is that with the quieter and more comfortable cabin, combined with the PPP, you can find yourself going a lot quicker than you thought.
Go and test drive one.

I'll prolly get ripped to shreds for this but, take no notice of some of the peeps on here Paul they seem to be getting a bit too old for their age and a bit sensative that they might be harassed by another boy racer. Although this is v anoying when it happens i have to say that i love to cain my my02 every now and again, thats what i bought it for after all. get the scoob m8 they r great fun.
Cheers Darren.

You've got to drive one, it's the only way to find out if you'll like it. In the past few weeks I've driven an EVO VII, EVO VII FQ-300, brand new WRX and a brand new STI. I bought the STi with PPP. The one I test drove was the "boggo" STi with only 261bhp but 4 up and only 1000 miles on the clock it went like the clappers.
You should really do a comparison and try and take an EVO out too.
In my opinion the STi is far nicer than the EVO. The EVO is just too damn hard and manic. The STi has a much more compliant ride and makes a better all-rounder. I can't wait to get my STi 8, run it in and see what it can do (within the speed limit obviously).

Cheers Darren - I have pretty thick skin so no need to worry! Nothing wrong with a bit of friendly banter.
Mjb - agreed, I've driven EVOs and whilst they are great fun especially on a track I'm not sure I want to wake up to one at 6.30am for my drive into the office (...hey Ken here's a fiver...). Wondered if the PPP Sti felt as uncompromising. Being a sad old man myself I like the fact that my turbo is useable and practical unless you dont want it to be.

Welcome -
I went from a standard UK turbo to Sti V7...
Initially the car was a great leap forward in terms of quality, though the driving experience was, overall, only marginally improved.
Then fitted the PPP (prodrive performance pack - (subaru approved)) kit (£1995) and this transformed the car into super league. Now have StiV8 ready for 1st March - can't wait - it seems a number of small improvements have lead to a substancially better package. Skipping the Sti V7 and plunging straight into StiV8 with PPP would be a sublime move - do IT!

Paul buy one of the used STI 7`s that all these muppetts are selling at the moment for the latest greatest.
If you can find one with the PPP all the better.
Dont buy a new STI * snow plough
You should be able to pick up a good STI & with PPP andsome 18`s for less than £23000 to £24000.
I paid £24000 a couple of months back.
Good luck.

Autoexpress reported that they are planning an Evo 5dr, now that would be interesting.
BTW, i'm well happy with my Sti7 and PPP, I would have liked a 5dr though as I think they are a bit more stealf looking I don't really like the attention it sometimes brings.
Mind you, I am planning on changing the rear spoiler, so I guess I cannot be that bothered
Edited as I got my smiles wrong
