Hi All

This is what happened last night on my way home from work!
Someone pulled out on me and i had to pull onto the other side of the road, when i hit some black ice (roads not gritted) and the backend went, then i went head-on into a tree! (at 30mph)

The other nice driver just carried on, luckly for me there was an off duty bobby a few cars back to help!

Then i had to wait four hours in the cold for the tow truck.

I took these with my phone (sorry for the quality), which only tell half the story. The passenger side (which was empty, thank god) door caved in under the load, so i recon the shell has twisted.

WRITE-OFF?????????????

Sorry to break the news, but it's more than likely it'll be a write off

Did the airbags go off ?? (these are often enough to swing it between economic to repair and not). Does it have airbags ??

Also, check the chassis legs. If these are kinked, again it's bad news I'm afraid. I've seen a few scoobs written off that you'd really think should be repairable, but parts are so expensive that they're not worth doing (unless you have contacts who can do it cheaper).

Sorry mate !!

Take a look at www.universal-salvage.co.uk website (star buys) and you'll see some of the cars that are written off.

Looks like a write off I'm afraid.

Mine was a cat d write off and the damage was nowhere near to the extent of yours.

Hope you have a Scoob back on the road soon.

Hi Mark (gravelexpress),

I know how you feel! I can't tell you how much i miss her!!!!!!!!!

I don't think i could find a better scooby for the money and thats why im toying with the idea of a RX7 as a stop gap to a 22B.

No signs of the driver!, so it all on my insurance!!!!
Bad but not to bad as its the only crash i've had and i have protected no-claims. I have been told they should be about £100-200 rise next year.

I would like to say a big thanks to all at Schofields Insurance but more so Dean & Fred for being so helpful. Top Blokes!!!!!

Ahem, an RX7 as a stop gap?! you mean a step up right?

Sorry about your bad luck, hope they get the driver, was he aware of what he had done? or a pensioner too busy concentrating on the cats eyes to notice what happens on the road.

gutted for you.

Our coupe got written off recently - hardly even looked damaged - just a bit squatter and butcher!
got minor low speed front and rear squashing but boot and engine bay were both mildly rippled once you started looking inside. Still not convinced it should have been written off as it was only a couple of years old but what can you do.

Apparently it was labour that would be the killer for mine.

Best of luck
