Mods - What about a Scobbynet stolen Car Register?

What about a Scobbynet stolen Car Register. Would this be useful.
People could post details on the Genearal board to gain attention, as they do at the mo. But also post the car details in the 'Stolen Car Register' So that a comprehensive list could be built up over time.
The only question mark I have is that it may be difficult to keep uptodate?
And what about a buyers guide. As we get alot of 'what to look for when buying a scoob threads' It could just be some basics plus a link to sidc. Or it could be a more comprehensive list by MY?
Just a couple of ideas? What do you think
Best wishes

dnb,
buy a 2nd hand car from a dealer.
did you hpi it?
they are not at obliged to advertise the fact that it has been s/r. if asked they have to answer honestly.
that's it.
so the person driving around in r7?8avc did you know it was stolen?

Excellent idea. With 20,000 registered on here and according to Webby around half of those active, I think we could make a real difference.
Police advice from BuRR on how to go about it would be essential. We don't want a bunch of Scoob vigilanties prowling about and giving chase
To avoid people informing police of cars that have been recovered and therefore stopped unnecessarily, maybe posts should be automatically deleted every 24hrs and re-posted on a daily basis while the car is still AWOL.
What can be done to prevent malicious posts?
Richard.

Its not the putting on that's the problem. Its the keeping up to date that is.
Effectively, you're keeping a database, and that needs to be current and correct to be fullt complaint with data protection.
Remember - we're not quoting opinions here, we'll be listing facts.
Would you like to be targetted by vigilantes just because someone didn't update the register?

and in addition to the above, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you that no police officer will want anything to do with this.
